25.01.2022 AT HOME LETTER LEARNING So while I’m not pushing teaching Tallow letters yet I’ve also been trying really hard to incorporate it somehow into fun play. He knows T is for Tallow but that’s about it. I’ve tried spiking his interest using painting, playdough, a treasure hunt and nothing spiked his interest. I should have known my little food lover would respond to doing it with food!!! He was so excited with this and we went through them all! A fun way to incorporate learning, fun and eating all in one!! #athomeideas #playbasedlearning #isolationcreation
25.01.2022 Serisouly amazes me how fast these grow! Tallow was blown away with the growth from this morning to tonight! Insane! Been a lot of fun spraying these with water each morning. Great way to show and teach kids about home growing foods. #growyourownfood #organiconabudget #wholefood #fifofamily
23.01.2022 I love our markets!! #wholefood
23.01.2022 Homemade crackers don’t need to be that hard and these are def a staple in our house. They make for a quick go to with avocado dip, hommus, Everymite or tahini or just on their own. Our kids love them. A dehydrator is a must - this means the seeds remain raw (if dehydration under 50 degrees) and lots of their essential fatty acids remain (which are lost and change during high heating in a oven). For this batch I simply soaked linseeds, chia and sunflower seeds overnight and then added Celtic sea salt. Blended, spread and then dehydrate for about 12 hrs or until crunchy. Yum!! #organiconabudget #lunchboxideas #snackideasforkids
23.01.2022 Lunchbox Inspiration I love my salads! I could have a salad everyday but it hasn’t ever been something the kids want- though I eat it with them daily. Until 2 days ago!!! Tallow suddenly said I want a salad!. So I was ofcourse all onboard and very enthusiastic and we made one together- we kept it fun and playful and I figured I’d keep it simple and he loved it and has requested it everyday in his lunchbox since and even wanted it for breaky this morning!! Simply: Chopped p...urple cabbage (Tallw loves this) Cucumber Carrot Drizzled with tahini!! I’m going to start adding little bits to it slowly like avocado next and then tomato and work my way up to a full on salad!! But I’m so excited!! So today’s lunchboxes: Tallow on right (4years old) Salad, carrot, cucumber, beetroot hommus, walnuts, passionfruit and roasted sweet potato. Jax on left (1 year old) Lemonade fruit, beetroot hommus. Cucumber, avocado, roast sweet potato, walnut, sourkrout #lunchboxinspiration #organiconabudget #fifofamily #wholefoods
22.01.2022 At home creations. Today we made miniature trees and also played around with making colours. Firstly, we got some white rice and coloured it using food dye and Tallow discovered that mixing yellow and blue makes green! We then collected sticks and made a tree and used the coloured rice for leaves. Was a lot of fun. He wants to add more leaves to it tomorrow. #isolationcreation #athomeplay #playbasedlearning #natureplay
21.01.2022 1 dish easy quiche. This is a good quick and easy go to for us. I simply blend up 6 eggs, 1/4 cup nut milk and vege stock with 1/4 flour (I use whatever gluten free ones i have). Then I add a mix of whatever vegies I have. This one was grated zucchini, roasted left over sweet potato and radish, broccoli and a little organic nitrate free bacon. Cook on fry pan for 5 min then in oven till firm. Easy #organiconabudget #lunchboxideas
21.01.2022 WHERE TO SHOP FROM HOME Thought I’d put a post out with a list of different places we normally shop from and support and have been especially convenient atm and may help others. 21.01.2022 This resonates with me today. Been a big wk and time to just stay at home and play and take it easy.
19.01.2022 Our Universe. We’ve been talking and discussing space, the Universe and Our Solar system lately. Tallow has taken to having this book in the toilet and today yelled out to me mum can you read to me the universe book while I do my poo! Love it haha This was a good animation we watched together today on our Solar system. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Qd6nLM2QlWw... #athomelearning
19.01.2022 Dinner inspiration- feeding growing bodies Made this tonight. Was a winner. Totally forgot to add the spinach and instead of canned tomato I used a tomato sauce I’d made. Yum. Was nice with quinoa. https://wellnourished.com.au/quick-pantry-lentil-soup/
18.01.2022 I love our local markets!
18.01.2022 Bush walks on the GoldCoast Almost everyday lately when I ask Tallow what do you want to do today? He replies go for a bush walk! Woohoo this is music to my ears as my love for nature and walking means this is a total win win for me. So I’ve absolutely been embracing and encouraging this, so thought I’d share what I’ve found from doing this, some walks we’ve done, how we’ve incorporated play based learning and also some links to check out what’s in our local area (we are ...Continue reading

18.01.2022 ISOLATION CREATION Took boys for a nature walk today and we found some clay so we took it home and made nature paint! Was so much fun, and works even better than chalk and makes great body paint and best part non toxic to us or environment. Win win. He’s of fun #outdoorplay #playbasedlearning #isolationcreation
17.01.2022 Heads up. Apparently during the holidays if you spend $30 at stocklands then you can go trade it in for these activity boxes!! Our amazing neighbour came over with 4 last night for the kids! 2x solar systems and 2x super hero’s. Each box has 4 different activities and everything you need is in the box. We have put two of the boxes away for a rainy day. Awesome idea! I can’t wait to do the solar system because we are right into that atm!!
17.01.2022 Choc/avocado/beetroot slice!! Last wk at our local farmers market they gave us a bunch of very ripe avocados for free (Thankyou amazing farmers) so we got busy adding to our daily smoothie as well as guacamole and then whipped up this dessert that froze really well too. Was a absolute winner too and a new invention so I didn’t write down measurements - I just winged it, so below are roughly the ratios. ... Base Almond meal (roughly 1 cup) Coconut (roughly 1 cup) 1/2 cup melted cocao butter (roughly) 2 tablespoons cocao oil 1/4 cup cocao (roughly) 1/4 cup honey (roughly) 2 tablespoons choc/beetroot powder (this stuff is amazing and really gave a nice flavour too it) Blend all and then press into base and refrigerate Next layer 3 avocadoes 1/4 cup coconut oil (roughly) 1/4 cup cocao powder 2 tablespoons choc/beetroot powder 1/4 cup honey Blend and then add to base and refrigerate till set. #guiltfreedessert #goodfats

15.01.2022 Our first celery harvest! This was grown from just cutting the base off a bought celery and placing it in the ground! We do the same with coriander when we buy it and it still has roots. Yum #organiconabudget #growyourownfood #sustainability
15.01.2022 Finding the colours of the rainbow in today’s bush walk. Was a lot of fun and we have brought home to stick in our adventure book xx #outdoorplay
15.01.2022 Lunchbox inspiration. This was a winner for everyone and was super easy and quick to make. Made a excellent addition to the lunchbox, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Going to make double next time and see how it goes freezing. You will need: 8 eggs 1 zucchini grated 1 sweet potato grated... 1 garlic crushed 2 rashes bacon (we use organic and nitrate free) 1 tablespoon Vegie stock 1 teaspoon Baking powder or baking soda (1/4 teaspoon activated with 1 tablespoon lemon juice). 1/2 cup buckwheat flour In fry pan brown The bacon (you don’t have to do this step but adds more flavour) and then chop into small pieces. Mix together eggs, vegie stock and garlic (I just throw all mine in food processor or thermomix), then mix in flours, baking soda, bacon and vegies. Done!! Place in lined dish in oven on 180 degrees for about 20 min or until firm to touch. Yum I made a second one and added a handful of spinach blended and grated broccoli and it was also a winner. BAKING POWDER- did you know that most conventional baking powders you buy contain aluminium to help them !? It is added so that the heat helps activate it. Corn flour is often also hidden in common baking flour. Both of these ingredients are not healthy to our bodies. Aluminium is particularly toxic to our brain function and corn flour is often GMO and can contain mould. If using baking powder look out for the ones that are aluminium free and corn flour free (you can find these in most health food stores). OR replace baking powder with food grade bicarbonate soda. To do this you need to activate it with an acidic ingredient like lemon juice and also remember that you need to quarter the amount. For example to replace 1 teaspoon baking powder you would use 1/4 teaspoon bicarbonate with 1 teaspoon lemon juice
14.01.2022 Immune booster. A Thankyou to our special friend Franky for this creation. Fermented garlic in honey (his own beehive too!!). He made this for us months ago and everytime we need a little boost or the kids are sick we have some. Love it and excellent way to get garlic into sick kids. #immunebooster
14.01.2022 What type of wrap to buy? This is actually the first store bought wrap I’ve ever bought for the kids - I tend to make them or buy the buckwheat fresh wraps from the markets. But let’s face it this can be time consuming and the budget this wk simply didn’t allow for the market ones.. so I went to checkout the supermarket choices available (and not my beloved health food store either as wanted to see what was out in the supermarket where I know many people shop). My biggest re...ason for not buying stored bought ones is that almost all contain vegetable oils- a very toxic and harmful substance that is now linked directly to heart disease. Amongst this is also often hidden preservatives, artificial flavours and colours to name a few. So what to buy...? We usually are gluten free however that’s another thing to be wary of as often the ingredients used to replace gluten in commercial products can be packed full on nasties. In fact I searched every single packet and couldn’t find one gluten free clean wrap in the supermarket. So this was our choice- not gluten free - but only contains 4 ingredients :wholemeal flour, filtered water and sea salt and all organic. $4. We packed them full of cabbage, coriander, lettuce, avocado, chicken and cashew cheese and had them after our afternoon bush walk. Was a hit. #organiconabudget #lunchboxideas See more
14.01.2022 Isolation creation! We pulled out the dress ups!! Was a fun day of many laughs
14.01.2022 Our favourite meals..platters. Love eating the colours of the rainbow
13.01.2022 This was a winner. Running low on pantry items so was using what we had but also wanting to keep it simple to teach Tallow how to make it. This has been a great lunchbox and on the rd snack this wk. 3 cups oats 2 tablespoons honey 4 ripe bananas... 1 cup desiccated coconut Milk oats quickly and roughly using a food processor or blender- put aside in bowl. Then add banana and honey to blender and blend until runny. Add to oats with coconut, combine then bake 180 degrees for about 10 min or until golden on top. Slice and keep in fridge in airtight container. Taste even better the next day!! Was also nice with cinnamon added #organiconabudget #wholefoods #dairyfree #lunchboxideas
13.01.2022 Our son loves making things, especially robots atm, out of our rubbish. Check out these awesome creations!! I want to make the aeroplane, helicopter and dump truck!
13.01.2022 Lunches for our bush walk yesterday. Roast quinoa salad with fermented beetroot dip for mum and me. Lunchboxes and home made crackers for the kiddies. Kiddies dips included, sourkrout, fermented beetroot dip and beetroot hommus! Yum #lunchbox ideas
13.01.2022 Lunchbox insperation. Quiche (bacon, zucchini, sweet potato, garlic, onion, herbs, tapioca and eggs). Apple, carrot, sourkrout, cucumber and dried banana. Yum!!
13.01.2022 At home cookups. I just had the best cooking experience with the kids! We grabbed a big pot and went out to the garden and I got Tallow to pick and choose all the herbs he wanted to throw in the pot. While we did this we filled our bellies with tomatoes we picked and some made it into the pot then I got him to come in and choose all the vegies straight from the fridge that he wanted in it. We then all chopped together and made it a big game, probably his favourite was chopping the broccoli which we pretended were trees and he was chopping all the branches off. We then talked about rainbows and Tallow proceeded to put every colour of the rainbow in it! I have NO idea how this soup/ stew will taste but it was a lot of fun and dinner is now made! Have added chicken and bone broth and garam masala. Was a blast.
12.01.2022 10 am today. Free live zoom Q & A with Theme Rains founder of Synthesis Organics. Learn all about organic essential oils, skin care and so much more. Xxx jump on
12.01.2022 Have I mentioned before how much I love our farmer markets!! Last week I asked if they had any over ripe tomatoes... this amount of pesticide free tomatoes cost me $10!! I placed on oven tray and added chopped garlic and purple onion and drizzled with a little honey To caramalise the onion, fresh thyme from our garden and pepper and salt. Roasted then blended. Made 5 large jars of sauce I have frozen for base of spag bowl and other soups or tomato sauce or salsa. Yum!! A nutritionally affordable sauce supporting our farmers!! #organiconabudget #wholefoods
12.01.2022 Eating the colours of the Rainbow. Favourite meal in our house= platter! Yum
12.01.2022 Lunchbox inspiration!! We are off camping soon so I have been busy making lots of healthy snacks for our days and our long rd trip. Inventing a few muesli bars as I go and these were a winner!! I’ve made two types of muesli bars for our trip- a raw vegan one packed full of nuts and seeds (I tend to try to avoid cooking with nuts and seeds so that they retain their health benefits so a raw bar is great). I’ve also made a cooked one with muffed millet and puffed brown rice whic...h turned out amazing and is a better option for the car trip than the raw one (less messy ). Apologies I can’t give recipe quantities as I did my usual thing and just through it all in however here is what is in it at a very rough estimate. (I’ve written it all down so Oneday I promise to give actual recipes haha). So here is (rough estimates) of both the raw muesli bars and the cooked one (had a egg in it this one) Walnut/ fig muesli bars (Rough estimates of quantities as I just added as I thought) 1/2 cup cocao butter 1-2 tablespoon coconuil oil 1 tablespoon honey Melt all and combine, then add 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup oats 1 cup toasted coconut dedicated 1 egg Combine all Then add 1 cup chopped walnuts 1 cup chopped figs 1 cup puffed millet and combine Cook in oven Winner!! Raw nut and seed muesli bars 1 cup cocoa butter melted 1 tablespoon honey 1 teaspoon cinemon 2 tablespoon chia seeds (added to melted cocao) Then 1/2 cup (linseed, sunflower and pepitas seed meal ) 1 cup toasted coconut flakes 2 tablespoon sesame seeds 1 cup rough chopped almonds 1 cup chopped macadamias 2 tablespoon hemp seeds 1 cup chopped figs 1 cup puffed millet #lunchboxideas #lunchboxinspiration #wholefoods #fifofamily #organiconabudget
11.01.2022 We live in paradise. Love having Nelson home from work. Tallow is loving bush walks atm and that’s his choice to do each day. So we have been doing all kinds of walks around the GoldCoast. This was the Beree - Badalla trail in Palm beach. A beautiful short walk through the mangroves which we stopped to talk about their role and purpose. Tallow pointed out all the crab homes nestled within them and we collected leaves and sticks to add to our adventure book we are making - which we will add pictures from this walk and a little story. #playbasedlearning #outdoorplay #nature #isolation creation
11.01.2022 Lunchbox inspiration. Jax 1 year old left- left over bolognases, steamed broccoli, avocado, pickled garlic, celery sticks, roasted sweet potato. Tallow 4 year old on right- roast sweet potato, cucumber carrot sticks, beetroot hommus, olives and a vege roll from Marie Anita’s organic bakery (these are amazing!!) Bolognese (my kids love this even if I’m more a salad lover - but I can’t deny it’s a good way to pack in a bunch of vegies- we make our own tomato sauce, so that as well as a bunch of herbs, garlic, mushrooms, zucchini and carrot and it becomes a pretty nutritionally dense meal and easy go to). #organiconabudget #lunchboxideasforkids #lunchboxinspiration
08.01.2022 Attachment and tears. For all parents and especially new parents these podcasts have been life changing for me. I listen to one everytime I get in the car. They give me guidance, inspiration and motivation to challenge perhaps pre conceived and limiting beliefs I had on parenting and how I should approach different behaviours like tantrums. This particular episode on tears and tantrums really was a stepping stone for me in realising that tantrums, tears can and are a ...beautiful opportunity to allow our children to let go of pent up feelings and are an incredible opportunity to teach our children love, compassion and understanding. When I shifted the way I viewed tantrums and tears and looked at it from this angle..it changed everything l Thankyou Marion Rose and Lael Stone for the beautiful work you are both doing. https://podcasts.apple.com//the-aware-parent/id1455772681
08.01.2022 At home creations. Lets go into Outer Space!! We are big on space atm so yesterday we made astronaut helmets. Balloon and paper and glue. Was a blast creating and having lots of fun playing. #athomeplay #playbasedlearning

07.01.2022 Very excited for this zoom Q&A we will be doing this sat 10am with Theme Rains founder of Synthesis Organic. While I’ve always had a passion for natural and organic I’ll admit I didn’t really know much about essential oils and their uses and benefits as well as why it’s so IMPORTANT to choose only certified organic essential oils till I attended a workshop with Theme Rains. We will be delving into this and so much more and learning about how certified organic is just the baseline for what separates Synthesis products from others. Can’t wait. Make sure you hit going so that we can send a reminder closer to day xxx
07.01.2022 A staple in our house. It’s one of Tallows fav to have with avocado on toast or crackers. Makes breaky a easy go to sometimes and snacks We get it through our affiliate business here: https://secure.innerorigin.com//shop/ProductDetailv4.aspx

06.01.2022 Sourkrout time. We just finished our last jar of Sourkrout so today we got busy making a big batch of cabbage, carrot and beetroot Sourkrout. Ours kids love it and so good for their guts. So easy to make and so affordable- all up this probably cost me about $15 to make 5 jars (the organic Sourkrout we usually buy is between $10-$15 per jar!).#organiconabudget #guthealth #lunchboxinsperation
05.01.2022 Lunchbox inspiration. Bacon vegie quiche. Fried up onion, garlic, bacon (nitrate free) and added onion/garlic salt, grated sweet potato, zucchini, handful of finely chopped kale, 1/2 cup buckwheat flour and 8 eggs. Yum #wholefoods #organiconabudget #kidslunchideas

Cucumber, carrot, apple, smoked salmon (we get this from our local market where he only adds salt and herbs to ours and smokes it on site- love it!!), pickled garlic, olives, sourkrout and fermented beetroot cashew dip!! Nothing remained in these at end of the day #wholefoods #lunchboxideas #lunchboxideasforkids #organiconabudget #fifofamily
04.01.2022 A while ago there was a sort of challenge circling Facebook - it was (if I remember correctly ) doing 20 days or so of breastfeeding pics to show that breastfeeding should be supported. One of my beautiful friends Monica Taylor tagged me in this- and being caught up in baby land I never part took, cause there’s no way I’d remember to do that for 20 days. However, I did still want to share and support this- I have never once been told to not feed in public or copped any negat...ive comments- maybe I’ve been lucky, I’d like to think that the world we live in supports us providing the best possible nutrition in the most natural way to our babies, but I know others that have felt uncomfortable by words from strangers. I’ve always openly fed In public, I’ve even breastfed twice on stage in front of an audience at varied events . I fed tallow for 2.5 years and Jax at 1 year is still breastfed. To me it’s the most natural thing in the world and should be seen as such. So share away I say and keep feeding our beautiful bubs anywhere and everywhere #breastfeeding See more

03.01.2022 Fruit roll ups! Omg these were the easier thing to make ever and such a awesome treat, snack and party food! 1 cup berries (I used frozen blueberries and raspberries) 1 tablespoon honey... That’s it! Simply blend and smooth out on baking tray and dehydrate till set (you can also do in oven on low heat till set though I haven’t tried this yet). Then you simply cut strips and roll up! They were a massive hit! Next ones I’m going to try adding banana and chia seeds to make them go further and a little more affordable. Yum!! #organiconabudget #lunchboxideas #healthypartysnacks #fifofamily

01.01.2022 This made a nice dessert for the cold weekend. We had with vegan ice cream and I also added blueberry jam to the base (crushed blueberries with chia seeds) yum!! Thanks Well Nourished for the recipe https://wellnourished.com.au/healthy-apple-pie/
01.01.2022 Camping 2020 Another awesome camping adventure with Uma and Pa! This was our third year but our first trip with our awesome jayco who Tallow has named Buster! Completely off grid, remote camping! Woohoo!!... What an adventure! It was a long drive to get there but we had lots of fun on the way with our distraction bag of fun toys, games, puppets, transformers, yummy food and fun music! The boys were great. We stayed for 10 nights this trip and it still went so fast. This year was cold getting down to 2 degrees on a few nights which Jax didn’t handle so well and spent almost every hr in either Nelson or my arms- but all part of it. The jayco was awesome! Love our new home on wheels. Uma and Pa had chosen a great spot. Our camp site was great, going bush like this means being self sufficient with all our own water, food and using solar and generators (which we only had to use twice) for our power. We made many dinners in our great camp oven using the hot coals from the fire and we even made a roast chicken and lamb shanks (this was my fav meal). Tallow and Jax spent everyday playing with Uma and Pa, digging in the dirt, playing with their trucks, making robots out of our rubbish, doing puzzles, raiding Uma and Pas olive and dried banana source, bush walking and ofcourse having rides on the quad bike. Was a blast!!
01.01.2022 Love. Laughter. Adventure. Good food. EVERYDAY
01.01.2022 Vegie quiche with rustic pastry. This was a winner for our dinner last night and made a great addition to our lunchboxes. The inside was just eggs, vegie stock, roasted sweet potato and cooked broccoli, cauliflower and baby spinach (I fried this up first). Pastry I used this Well Nourished one https://wellnourished.com.au/healthy-homemade-pastry/... which was pretty simple, we are usually gluten free but I’m still playing around with finding a perfect gluten free pastry (ideas and suggestions welcome ). So spelt flour was used. The kids loved the parcel look to it. #lunchboxideas #organiconabudget #fifofamily
