14.01.2022 FLU VACCINES for cancer patients. It's that time of year again. With the approach of winter the flu season is beginning and vaccinations are now available. Did you know that immunisation for influenza is safe and recommended for most cancer patients. Patients undergoing chemotherapy for common cancers (e.g. breast, bowel and prostate cancer) are advised to consider immunisation to reduce their risk of influenza. Patients with haematological conditions should discuss with their doctor regarding immunisation. Caution is advised for patients undergoing treatment with immunotherapy drugs (e.g. pembrolizumab, nivolumab) and these patients should discuss with their specialists prior to immunisation.
14.01.2022 We encourage all our patients to consider getting their influenza vaccination in the current environment to reduce their risk of becoming unwell over the months ahead.
