23.01.2022 Hi there guys!!! Just a quick update...due to increasing numbers of Covid 19 infections in Newcastle and Sydney, I will only be taking on existing local clients from the Central Coast. If you have been to any of the hotspots lately, I ask that you refrain from making an appointment until at least two weeks after your visit there. I implore you to use the provided hand sanitiser on entry at the gate and reschedule your appointment if you have any cold or flu symptoms. If your appointment happens to be on a mild sunny day, I will dread outside in the fresh air so come prepared in warm clothing (blanket provided). If we have to dread inside, you are welcome to wear a mask, use the provided hand sanitiser and use good hygiene practices. Thankyou for understanding that your health and my health are of the utmost importance.

23.01.2022 Throwback Thursday... can’t believe it’s been a week back at work already! Started the year off with this beauty! The day was as long as her beautiful hair and I forgot to palm roll the ends and straighten the dreads for the after pic but you get the idea!!! What a way to start 2020!!! Anyhoo...last year I got all organised and planned my days so that I could do multiple clients in a day and allow you to book yourself in online....WELL.... this is why I should never get... organised as things change. So since I made that post, I’ve actually done a few multiple clients in one day and I’m afraid it doesn’t work for me. I get too tired, the dinner doesn’t get made in time, the kid doesn’t get any attention and the dog doesn’t get walked. So this year I’ve decided I HAVE to set clear boundaries for myself and a strict routine otherwise everything goes out the window. So 2020 I’ll be booking clients from 12pm Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri. Saturdays 8-5pm and closed Tues and Sun. So that means bookings will either be at 12pm or 3pm weekdays. For those already booked in, you’re appointment times stay the same unless I contact you in advance. SO!!! 2020 is hopefully the year I stick to my own boundaries. You can help me by only requesting those times and days so I don’t stuff up my goals again this year! cheers!!!

21.01.2022 Well that’s it for 2019! I’ve officially been in business for 4 years! I wish all of my beautiful regular clients a merry Christmas! One that is safe, joyful, loving and peaceful! I realised the other day during a silent appointment that it’s YOU that makes it fun and interesting and enjoyable. The dreading can be rather monotonous but the conversation never is. Thankyou for your continued patronage. Thankyou for your kind reviews and referrals. Thankyou for your generosity. And Thankyou for just being you, unique in every way. I love my job and it’s all because of you. Have a great holiday season and I’ll see you in 2020!! Back in full swing on the 3rd January!!

17.01.2022 Hi all!!! A little update on me as it’s been a while!! So first of all...Happy Mardi Gras! Hope everyone celebrating has an awesome time this weekend!! Secondly, I’ve been booked in to have a small operation and was due to have it done mid February...anyhoo, got to the hospital and all gowned up and they postponed it! So take two on the operation is this Monday! so if all goes well, Coastal Dreadlocks will be CLOSED from Monday 2nd March until Monday 16th March. Finge...rs crossed there’s no postponement this time! Got a new bundle of Australian handmade repurposed fabric dread beads by Jaime! Already sold 5 today so they’re running out the door at $5 each! Other than that, it’s busy as usual in the dread lounge...working 5 days a week Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat 12pm-6pm. Remember to book well in advance if you’re wanting a Saturday as they are the busiest and I’m usually doing 2 dread clients on the day to accomodate the need. Anyhoo! See you in a coupla weeks!!! Keep being dreadful!

15.01.2022 Here’s a pic of my big head because I know you’ve missed it so much! So the update that everyone has been waiting for ()....I have reopened Coastal Dreadlocks! I am currently moving through my backlog of appointments that were cancelled due to Covid 19. I am only taking on 2-3 clients a week atm. Therefore I will not be taking on new clients at this time. All cancelled and rebooked appointments will be honoured. I am privately messaging my clients as I move down the list but if you’re one of them and wanting an appointment, please message me. If youre not an existing client but you’re looking for a loctician, please go to www.thedreadshed.com to find one near you. Cheers!!

12.01.2022 Ok I’m gonna be the first to say it.... If you are exhibiting ANY signs of a cold or flu (even mild signs) or have been overseas and haven’t self quarantined for 14 days, please RESCHEDULE your appointment. I have just had a septoplasty and my immune system isn’t the greatest due to other health issues, so I urge all of my clients to please reschedule your appointment if you are unwell. What might be a mild cold to you, ends up being a major issue for me. Especially now with... the Covid-19 virus starting to make its way around the country and with the amount of commuters to Sydney from the central coast, it’s a matter of time that we will start seeing cases up here. My greatest concern is not for myself or my 4 year old son, but actually for his grandmother, who is 75 and has recurrent lung issues and has been hospitalised in the past with pneumonia and Avian flu and currently has a chest infection. She is particularly susceptible to Covid-19. I could unknowingly pass it onto her. Please...I urge you to think about the health of others around you. For you it’s probably no big deal, a crappy few days at best, but for our elderly and immune compromised, it could spell death. I promise I will work double time to fit you in after a two week quarantine period if you do reschedule due to health. To help keep possible infection at a minimum risk, all clients will enter through the back stairs into the dread room. Masks and hand sanitiser will be offered but anyone showing obvious signs of illness will be asked to go home and reschedule. If children are accompanying clients, please bring something to occupy them as Xavier’s toys will be off limits and they will be confined to the dread room only. This is to protect my family as best as possible so I hope you all understand the changes. Stay healthy out there guys!!!

09.01.2022 35 dreads on a 35 degree day! 3.5 hr install. I’m seeing a lot of 3’s and 5’s here...what does it all mean? kick ass dreads of course!!

09.01.2022 Hey guys!! I hope you’ve all been well! All good here, but I’ve been getting lots of enquiries to see if I’m open yet. At this stage I’m still closed and will be looking closely at how things evolve once school goes back and things start to open up a bit. As I’m sure you can appreciate, I have a large volume of existing clientele and over 25 appointments I had to cancel when we went into lockdown, so I won’t be taking on new clients any time soon. When I do reopen, I will h...ave a backlog to get through and will at first, be limiting appointments to only 3 people a week to limit potential exposure. I’m guessing by June we will have a good idea of how things are evolving, so I’ll be looking at evaluating opening up then. I have people offering to wear masks and I’ve considered asking that clients download the COVIDSafe app so that if anyone in the chain of acquaintances on both sides contracts the virus, we will be notified promptly. I know many of you are super keen for everything to go back to normal, and I am too, but my own health and safety and that of my families, is of the utmost importance. So!!! It’s a frustrating waiting game but I assure you, I will reopen when I feel it is completely safe to do so. Hang in there guys!! Hopefully it won’t be too much longer now. Love to you all and stay safe!!! See more

06.01.2022 Well well well...a lot can happen in such a short time! So as the NSW premier announced today that all non essential services will be in lockdown, that means that from today, Coastal Dreadlocks will be closed until further notice. I deeply apologise to all those that had appointments booked this week and in the coming weeks. Obviously this weeks clients will be cancelled and I will need to take it day by day, week by week after that but I am expecting a shutdown of my servic...e for around 4 weeks minimum. I will contact each of you personally to advise you of the cancellation. I won’t do reschedules as yet due to the uncertainty of the current situation. It will be a matter of me making a list of who had bookings in order of date and when I reopen I will try to get you back in, in that order. In the meantime, to keep your dreads looking as good as you can, buy an Aussie made dread lokkup spray that has salt and essential oils in it and spray onto the dread and palm roll while damp. Alternatively, order a 0.6mm crochet hook online and get stuck into some YouTube videos that show you how to nip in the fuzzies. You probably won’t be able to do the roots as they’re quite tricky and doing the back of your own head is painful, but at least you could get the dreads at the front to look a bit neater. Hairspray and palm rolling for that special Skype or zoom meeting!! or online date I guess!! Now could be a great time to experiment with wraps to hold down some fuzz or hats, wraps or beanies might be your best option!!! Just remember to keep separating every dread on your head, that’s really important so you don’t get a big Congo dread!! yikes! Ok peoples, stay safe, stay healthy, be responsible for the greater good of the community and see you on the flip side!

03.01.2022 These dreads were created by me over a year ago now. A spot of maintenance and a new dread wrap and we’re good to go for another few months!! This beautiful lady always gets compliments and comments regarding her dreads and she has been one of my greatest supporters, referring people to me which I totally appreciate. She always arrives with great spirit and generosity. Such a nice day at work!

01.01.2022 So there’s a lot of uncertainty out there at the moment with Covid-19. I’m feeling it too. Some of us are feeling a little directionless. Will we lockdown, won’t we?? When or if should we isolate ourselves? We know the PM has said there won’t be a lockdown but I also know many are concerned and making that decision for themselves instead. So I will say this, things are changing daily, infection rates are changing daily, I will make a decision as to whether I continue dreading... for a period of time in relation to how much this virus invades our community. If I feel the infection rate is too high and puts my family at too much risk, I will close my doors for a period of time. This will mean cancelling pre booked appointments. I know this will disappoint and inconvenience some of you and I sincerely apologise and hope that you will understand if it happens. I will keep you posted and remember any signs of illness on your behalf please reschedule. Cheers!! See more
