12.01.2022 SHOULD COURSES BE EASY & FAIR? When im planning a golf trip for a group, I always ask them if there are any particular courses in the area they are wanting to include in their package? While there are courses that are always high on the list, sometimes they advise of a course that they dont want to include because they have heard from a guy they know that the course is too hard.... I always find this response interesting. Golf is a game, shouldnt it be hard or at the least challenging? Considering golfers come in all abilities, what makes it hard for one might make it interesting or fun for another. Why should you put a line through playing a course just because it didnt suit someone elses game? Here is an article written by course architect and tour player Mike Clayton, recently published on the Golf Australia website, that addresses this exact issue. 08.01.2022 Only ever good reports from our groups who play @13thbeach TOP 100 COURSES SPOTLIGHT: THIRTEENTH BEACH GOLF LINKS @garylisbongolf For many years Victorias Bellarine Peninsula sat in the shadow of its cross-bay sister peninsula, the Mornington, when it comes to golf. However, the emergence in 2001 of the first course at Thirteenth Beach drew golfers attentions to the south-western corner of Port Phillip Bay as the golf offerings on the Bellarine began to flourish. Tony C...ashmores Beach course was an instant hit, adding a second high-quality golf venue to accompany the long-standing Barwon Heads course next door. Cashmore used distinct pockets within the property to create loops that were later reconfigured for the Victorian Open. These loops give the layout subtly different settings while keeping the entire 18 seamless. Within the course are four exceptional par 3s, the most commendable being the tiny 16th, which teases and tantalises for its 113 metres.
