24.01.2022 Well that just about wraps things up for #WECH50 2019. You can read all the detail at the link, but as a summary: Virtual Run - category and random prizes winners have been determined. Partial Refunds - have now been processed for anyone who opted in.... Donation to Wildcare Australia Inc. - has been made, and we are stoked to say we were able to gift $14,000 to Wildcare to help with bushland/habitat regeneration post-bushfires...thanks to everyone for chipping in! And lastly - thanks to Wild Earth for their ongoing support.

23.01.2022 ** SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT ** In a year of false starts on behalf of The Wild Earth Coastal High 50... we are pleased to bring you yet another hurdle to test your resilience, flexibilty, patience, problem solving skills and will enable you to be better trained and race ready.... it has been necessary to postpone our event to Saturday November 28. Entries open to the general public on Sunday night June 21 at 6pm. For those already registered in the past 48 hours (who had to ove...rcome the disappointment of the bushfire cancellation of 2019) your entry has been transferred or a FULL refund plus an early entry window to 2021 will be provided. Besides the benefit of added time to prepare, the camping accommodation at Binna Burra will be open in time for our new date and all roadworks completed. Despite our best efforts to avoid any confusion, information provided in the last 24hours meant that, in the interest of certainty for participants and respect for the community and businesses of Binna Burra, National Park & Transport authorities; a move to the alternate date was necessary. 21.01.2022 Were trudging uphill... and we cant see the summit.... but we feel like were getting close.... Like you, we are desperate for the 2020 version to happen, and we are working in the background to ensure things are in place to deliver another great event, so should things continue to track in the right direction, we are good to go! Our unfortunate souls who were left stranded by bushfires without a run last year will get first dibs when registration does open, then we will throw it open to all those desperate for a run on the majestic trails of the Gold Coast hinterland... thats a lot of people right now So hang in there, do all the right things to stay on top of this thing because the better we are, the more chance we have of hitting a start line!

The Wild Earth Coastal High 50 has typically sold out in quick time but at the moment, we are at 50%. Im sure as we (hopefully) see races staged in the coming months, people will register in events with more confidence & we too will see some more entries. There is a cap on our numbers so to help you, we will have some markers along the way, to let you know how many spots remain! So you can stay on the fence for now... but dont leave it too long... theres light breaking through!

12.01.2022 Lots of chatter (& emails ) and people stressing out re bib collections and gear checks, etc. The Coastal High 50 is one of the most stunning trail runs on the planet , but it does have a high logistical element to it with the point to point aspect, mandatory gear etc. Firstly; bib collection. We have added a number of options this year but ultimately you still have to get on a bus at Springbrook (or Binna Burra) on race morning and there is a collection slot there... so d...on’t worry if you missed the mail option , or the store option, or the Friday option! Secondly; the gear checks. Yes the date for this to be done is today. This has been the case since we opened entries and there has always been an email option ([email protected]) & remains so! We do this so there is LESS to worry about for race day, and so we can get sign off from National Parks and our insurance. So we will be following up those who haven’t got it done today - but it’s not a firing squad... we want you to run, we just need it to be safe and fair... Lastly buses ; it’s physically impossible for you all to drive to the start line and park... so we all catch the bus, you’re either boarding at Springbrook on race morning, or at Binna Burra for those staying up there. No need to book - because we KNOW you’re catching it if you’re running. Your Information Booklet will hit your emails on Tuesday and will hopefully address any other concerns but as per the photo... stay calm, we will get you to the start line - we are on your team! And thats actually the reason why we are now racing in November - to not add stress to this re-opening period. Its standard procedure for us to refrain from having large training groups and its especially important this year. 09.01.2022 UPDATE- date is now November 28!! Last year it was bushfires and this year its Coronavirus but we shall not be deterred! On Wednesday we meet with representatives of Qld National Parks and we will discuss whether we can proceed with the original Sept 5 date for the 2020 event! If not, we will explore a late November date that allows sufficient recovery from all the majors that impact our athletes (UTA, Blackall, Guzzler) and meets with Parks approval! Our plan is - regardles...s of the date; to open entries THIS Wednesday afternoon for all 2019 participants that were due to run... and next Sunday afternoon for the slots remaining! 05.01.2022 With the day serving up some pretty heavy heat, we had our team out on the course ready to help provide some relief - some just wanted to tease you about what was waiting for you at the finish line though! Were you hallucinating? or did a giant beer bottle just take your photo and give you water?!

04.01.2022 2020 EVENT UPDATE At this stage, the 2020 event will be held on the first Saturday in September as per previous years; in 2020 that falls on the 5th September. We expect to open entries in late March or early April, and well give plenty of notice via our website and this page before we do. Note that entrants from the cancelled 2019 event will have a priority entry window to secure their spot prior to entries being released to the general public.... There will be some changes (logistics rather than course) to deal with the consequences of last years bushfire in Binna Burra and we are still working through those. Were also conscious of respecting the people and areas affected by the bushfire by not promoting the event too soon, particularly given the Binna Burra section of Lamington NP remains closed for now. Well be releasing more information as we have it and when we feel it is appropriate to do so.

04.01.2022 Secondary course sweep complete... you do Dave’s I said; I’ll do Ships Stern... Massive shout out to our forerunners Joris, Jeremy, Brad Aird and Troy Lethlean who checked and reinforced our course marking, cleared cobwebs and even some ‘wait-a-while’ which near took Joris’s scalp! Then our poor sweepers cleared behind you all; picking up pink tape and signs (which get progressively heavier)! Thanks Shelley, Veronique Apps, Sarah Stubbs and Jemma! Kudos to all our competitors too - we barely found any rubbish. We too are passionate about the spaces we run, so well done for preset and protecting them by trucking out everything you took into the trails! Now it’s team brekky with the amazing Sharyn Sutton who co-ordinated those amazing volunteers!

01.01.2022 Had a few questions around what happens if we are forced to cancel due to Covid-19. All those who have entered will be provided a FULL REFUND & given an early entry window to next years event. Normal refund and transfer procedures shall apply outside of this but hopefully this provides some (much needed) peace of mind for many of you getting splinters on that fence ... As we speak, we are about 60% full, so dont delay too long... you only have 16weeks prep time as of this coming Saturday !!
