24.01.2022 The term Arthritis is often used to label the many varieties of joint pains that we all have. It is very helpful to know the different between the 2 main types of Arthritis as the treatment differs and the symptoms can be very different. This brief article will help you with an overview of what the difference is between rheumatoid and osteoarthritis is. https://www.coastalphysioclinic.com.au/%d0%b0rthriti%d1%95/

23.01.2022 Now this is cool..... or maybe just a big nerd 20/02/2020. Great symmetry

23.01.2022 Those of you who know me know I use a version of mindful training to help reduce stress, decrease pain and improve performance. This more than just to reduce stress (which it can do well) but more about helping us focus on what is important at this particular point in time. Athletes of all types have been using similar techniques to help them achieve optimal performance. I believe it can improve your pain and help focus our minds and bodies on optimising our healing and performance. Read on as it isn't just about meditation. My philosophy is " be in this moment in order to make a better next moment" I hope you enjoy my practical approach to this ancient philosophy that is so important today in our fast-paced world. https://www.coastalphysioclinic.com.au/what-is-mindfulness/

18.01.2022 If you look closely enough with the right lens anything is possible .

17.01.2022 Community Coming Together As you all know my house and practice flooded as many other Gold Coast Residencies during the Saturday morning floods. I thought the clean up would be quicker but as it was creek water the insurance has advised that it would be about a month or so. This left me rushing round looking for accommodation quickly. Enter a knight in shining armor Dr. Ki Pang From Johnston Street Medical Centre who has offered me a room for 4 weeks or so. This is at 33 Geo...rge Street in Southport. (https://www.google.com//data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x5da116c22984) This is not at all far from where we are now. There is plenty of parking and you will be well looked after. I want to thank everyone for their patience and support and hope this temporary move won't inconvenience anyone. (if you could share this with those you know who use our services I would appreciate that greatly ) Thank you so much community and Dr Pang. See more

16.01.2022 Sorry to say we were affected by the flooding on the weekend and will be closed Monday and Tuesday this week but will be back up and running on Wednesday. My thoughts and prayers with all those in a similar position. Don’t worry just making sure it’s all ship shape before starting up . Thank you everyone

15.01.2022 Providing Continuity of Care in a changing world. I write this post to let you know how in changing world, where the language of lockdowns and physical distancing has become normal, I will still be providing you with a continuity of care. As many of you know our family and my practice were hit by an adverse weather event in January. My practice was flooded and we suffered an incredible financial (and emotional) loss. I was offered a lifeline by Doctor Kai Pang, so that I coul...d continue to run my physio practice from his medical centre. I have been quiet on social media since January, as we have been in the midst of the recovery process, ‘head down, bottom-up’ so to speak. As we were getting back on our feet we have been hit by the Coronavirus pandemic. Our world is changing and how we interact with the world has also changed in light of the pandemic, but we have learned from our previous loss about the importance of continuity. Through our recovery, it is our relationship with others that sustain us through traumatic times. Therefore, I write with a promise of continuity of care in this rapidly changing world. Physiotherapy remains an essential health service providing pain relief, support and reduces the disability and suffering that poor or no movement creates. We have implemented changes as advised by health and government and will continue to adapt to the new conditions as they emerge to ensure your safety is at the forefront. What we are doing to keep you safe? Physical distancing: we have implemented new protocols to reduce contact with other people when you come in for treatment. We have created a separate entrance directly into the physio practice so that you don’t have to walk through the medical centre We have established car to couch protocol. You send us a text when you have arrived and I will collect you from the car and walk you directly into the physio room Handwashing Before coming in We have provided hand sanitiser in rooms and at our front desk. Please make sure to make use of this on arrival and departure of the clinic. During the treatment The physiotherapist will wash their hands before and after each treatment and where needed, during treatment. Treatment Room All surfaces in the waiting area and physio rooms are cleaned and disinfected after each treatment. All linen is changed regularly and washed at a higher temperature as per guidelines. Additionally, you will likely smell disinfectant through the clinic which is being used regularly throughout the day as well. My aim is to continue to provide continuity of care in these uncertain times. Although our protocols may have changed, my mission remains the same, reducing pain, sustaining wellbeing, optimising life

13.01.2022 Some practical strategies for improving your breathing without increasing your stress. I have found that simple strategies are often the best and this is no different from teaching yourself to breathe for wellness. Slow and steady and don't expect to get it perfect the first time. Build up slowly and progress slowly and enjoy the relaxation and feelings of wholeness that you can create. https://www.coastalphysioclinic.com.au/breathing-part-2-pr/

09.01.2022 Without a doubt when a patient comes to me with pain that is affecting their sleep one of my primary aims would be to get them sleeping better. Often once we achieve that things move more smoothly towards recovery. This is why I have written this latest article which considers what happens during our sleep. It is important to know this as it will help us understand just how important sleep is and even help us with strategies to help improve our quality of sleep. Sleep for your health. https://www.coastalphysioclinic.com.au/the-importance-of-s/

06.01.2022 I would like to thank everyone for a wonderful 2019. It has been a pleasure to be part of your recovery journey ( I know how hard it can be). As we approach Christmas, a time of joy and celebration, I send my wishes to everyone but especially those lonely, those isolated, those in pain and suffering. This celebration note is for those who just don't feel they want to celebrate. My thoughts are with you. Merry Christmas and see you all in 2019

03.01.2022 With respect to all my wonderful clients and friends ,if you allow me one indulgence. I am Australian / South African but very happy this morning. This means so much to so many people in South Africa and around the world. Thank you everyone for your patience with this indulgence.

03.01.2022 Breathing: Your gateway to better health (Part 1) A technique that both I and other health professions who know how pain affects us use. This technique is as simple as can be and it is teaching you to breathe to help your pain and improve your wellbeing. I, however, find that the most important thing is first being aware of your breathing. This article highlights what happens when we breathe badly. How it affects our health and how breathing badly can increase our pain experience. For questions on this or anything else feel free to contact me or even book in to start your journey to improving your health and reducing your pain. https://www.coastalphysioclinic.com.au/breathing-your-gate/
