10.01.2022 Crew training - docking Cooloola Rescue, Crew 2 weekend Duty Crew

10.01.2022 From 1 January, 2021 AMSA will be enforcing the requirement to have a float-free EPIRB on certain types of commercial vessels. It can take time for a beacon to be delivered and properly installed. Don’t wait until it’s too late!

08.01.2022 Boating season has begun. Get your EPIRB on before January 2021

06.01.2022 Last week end crew duty, 23/24 Jan 2021, was probably the quietest last weekend of School holiday since "when ever", only a couple of boats logged on there were no transits in or out and no activations. Mon 25, no action, Tues 26 ( Australia day) one local boat logged on and a transit to Scarborough over night logged on at 1730 to cross out over the WBB. Boat training was conducted on the secondary rescue vessel MR2, Neil (G2) Karl (GPH) with Kim and Matt in training for GPH,... doing all the line handling for docking, mooring pick ups and anchoring etc. Due to a depleted crew (not available due to leave etc) we were not able to have two boats on the water for towing practice. Later the same crew did a navigation exercise to Inskip Point. The first activation for Crew One was Wednesday morning for a tow from Inskip point back to Snapper creek. 02.01.2022 If you have not been to DIP recently this is the lagoon area with its sandbanks etc Watch out for shallowing areas when anchoring in this area, see previous posts we have had to tow stranded vessels sand banks. This area is 20 NM from TCB, it takes us over an hour to reach you, providing the WBB is passable. Our running costs are expensive to get there and back, be careful,,,,admin
