20.01.2022 Hashtags Tips - The what, why and how many. Think of hashtags as a map to the location of your social posts and profiles. They increase your businesses awareness and help you find and engage with customers and other businesses that have similar interests as you, otherwise know as your target audience. This is why using relevant hashtags will help people find you, specifically your target audience. Your target audience will consist of people who are more likely to engage w...ith your social profiles by liking and commenting on posts, which in turn boosts the visibility of your profile on your chosen social platform, especially Instagram which is hashtag dominant. How do you know which hashtags to use? You may think using the most popular hashtags in your industry is the way to get the most exposure, well not necessarily as your post could get lost in the multiple millions of posts under that hashtag. Instead go for hashtags that have some popularity but are not at the top of the list. Also using relevant local or area specific hashtags could be beneficial to a brick and mortar store in helping you gain exposure in your local community. How many should you add to your post? Instagram lets you add up to 30 but more is not always best in this situation as your post can look more like an ad rather than a genuine post. Search the popular hashtags within your field and post style, then choose those which are relevant and relate to that specific post. Taking a little bit more time to be conscious of your hashtag choices rather than having a copy and paste approach will ultimately benefit your business.
