15.01.2022 A beautiful day for a .22 shoot.
15.01.2022 So we decided to do a little segment on how one of our club members do their reloading, case preparation for competition and any other process they go through to make match ready ammunition. We will put pictures up of the processes used and the equipment and why we do each step. If anyone has any questions or queries please post in the comments or send us a message. I hope to get some discussion going about reloading and hopefully help people get into reloading or improve their own loads.
14.01.2022 An absolutely gorgeous day for a range or 3 with our visitor, Paul from Albany WA.
12.01.2022 1. The first thing I wanted to talk about is the rifle and a little side story about ammunition. The rifle has been built as a long range hunting rifle that can also be used in the NRAA hunter class discipline. The reason why we are going to the lengths we are with the hand loading is to see what accuracy we can extract from the new Swan barrel. I have not used a swan before and the price was great so why not. Now to the ammo side story. I was poking around in dubbo one day s...o I decided to drop in to have a look in Gunpro. I was still waiting for the barrel to be fitted and I had been reading great reports on the Federal Gold Medal Match ammunition. I asked Marty if he had any on the shelf. To my surprise he passed me a box of FGMM 7.62x51 ammunition. For the price i couldn't put together handloads for cheaper. I had planned to use the box to do the barrel break in. Not knowing anything about this stuff I jumped on Google to see what I could find out. According to people on a few different shooting forums this ammo is the overruns from the latest 7.62x51 sniper ammunition (MK 316 mod 0) being fielded by the US military. With more research it seems that Federal was tasked with making a new round to replace the M118LR ammunition. With this info I went back and brought another 100 rounds. Once I had the barrel broken in and scope shot in I fired a few 3 shot groups at 100 metres. I shot 4 groups that showed a lot of promise. With that I shot 5 rounds over the chronograph to see how fast they were travelling and what velocity spreads they gave. From memory it was 14fps for 5 shots. I did a 3 shot group just recently and done the velocity spreads again. If this ammunition appeals to you guys Cleaver Firearms has it for $24.90/20 See more
11.01.2022 With the NRAA now sanctioning a new class of target shooting geared towards hunting/varmint rifles we would like to gauge if there is any interest in the Cobar area. If you would like to know more please flick us a message to see what it is all about. If we get enough interest we would like to start our own competition within the club with the intent to make it a regular shoot and possibly get a comp going with other clubs in the state.

03.01.2022 A great day at The Cobar Rifle Club celebrating Bill Chandler's 50 years of Membership of the National Rifle Association.
03.01.2022 A very momentous occasion today, Club Captain Mitchell got beaten by his girlfriend Sam in the .22 shoot... using the same rifle, the same ammo and the same conditions. This is very rare so it must be celebrated with alot of bragging.
03.01.2022 Great conditions at the range today
