23.01.2022 Community shout out! We were in need of a hand in our rear block to move our wrecked cars that we use for training. Thankfully this community is full of wonderful spirit and help was given without hesitation. Big thanks to Ces Motor Trimming and Industrial Sewing Pty Ltd for supplying the truck and man power. Big thanks to Copper City Tyre Service for the forklift. Community helping community, that’s Cobar and that’s why this town is so special ... In the spirit of shout outs... we would love to hear what else has blown you away in this town.. tag a local legend that has helped you

22.01.2022 On Friday the 19th of February we farewell our dearly loved Mayor of Cobar Lilliane Brady OAM. She was a huge support to our station and always thanked us for the service to the town. We will have fond memories of going to her home to regularly check the smoke alarms and her showing off her shoe collection while we were there and of course the framed photos of her race horses. Mayor Brady was first elected to Cobar Shire Council in 1976 and sat on the Council for more than 40...yrs. She served as Mayor for almost 23 years, making her NSW’s longest ever serving female mayor. Mayor Brady was awarded a Centenary Medal in 2001 for services to local government and a Medal of the Order of Australia in 2012 for service to local government and to the community of Cobar. In 2018, Mayor Brady was recognised with a Local Government NSW Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2020 she was awarded the Minister for Local Government Award for her commitment to increasing participation of women in local government. Fittingly a State Funeral Service will take place at Drummond Park next to the Council Chambers at 11am this Friday.

14.01.2022 Last weekend 3 members of our team (Deputy Captain Alex Lennon, Firefighter Dean Hodges & Firefighter Matt Hunter) joined roughly 40 other firefighters from region west at the Wellington Training Centre to hone their skills and learn some new ones. Specialist trainers from our region and the Fire and Rescue NSW Emergency Services Academy delivered world class training so that Cobar and our region have some of the best trained firefighters We brushed up our skills and ...knowledge in the following competencies: - operating the new handheld radios - gas detector refresher - Mayday Drag and resuscitation - SCBA refresher with a refresher on the use of the Thermal Imaging Camera - structural fire door entry techniques

13.01.2022 Public Notice To prepare for the funeral of Mayor Lilliane Brady OAM Drummond Park will be closed from tomorrow Wednesday, 17 February 2021 and will re-open Saturday 20, February 2021 at 1pm. This includes all play equipment, picnic and BBQ areas.

01.01.2022 Today, and always, we remember Sgt Geoffrey Richardson Richo who was tragically taken from us too soon. We remember the courageous, funny and dedicated man, father and friend he was and we hold deep in our hearts the wonderful family that he left behind. We were lucky enough to have Richo as a Cobarian for some time, and those that were lucky enough to have known him have many fond memories of a great bloke with a heart of gold. ... To Marg, Patrick & Aiden, we know Richo would be proudly watching over. NSW Police Force
