23.01.2022 The first Smithfield to enter the #cobberchallenge definitely had heads turning! Whiskey dazzled Cobber Challenge followers and anyone who doubted him, in the first two weeks of the competition. By the end of the second week, he had completed over 22 hours of work, covering 221.4 kilometres, at an impressive average speed of 9.92 kilometres per hour. Jack wasn’t surprised Whiskey was racking up the kilometres.... He loves every single second of working no matter if it’s in the sheds or the yard or the paddock, he just loves every bit of it. 20.01.2022 We asked Matthew Johnson if he had any tips for breeders? "Breed from the best. Moreso my dogs are farm dogs first and then trial dogs next, so they have to make a grade on the farm before I even think about trialling. Got to be from proven working dogs before I think about breeding from them." We also asked: When selecting from a new litter, what traits do you look for in potential working dogs?... "Good type but bold and strong." #CobberAmbassador

16.01.2022 This year we saw another ground-breaking victory in the #CobberChallenge with two-year-old Buddy running further than any competitor in the Cobber Challenge's five-year history, covering an enormous 835.0 km's - 118km more than last years winner, Jed! Congratulations Buddy, you definitely deserve a day off! #AllStarsVsContenders

16.01.2022 We asked Matthew Johnson how many dogs / breeds do you have and do you have a favourite dog? "11 pups, 3 bitches, 6-8 in main team + 6-8 coming through. 2 dachshunds Margie and 3 spaniels + 2 Labradors for hunting about 40 all up, can’t really count. Sako is my favourite, we bred him but he’s the complete all-rounder. A super good all-rounder, natural break out but when he hits the yards, he’s a total powerhouse and backs like a train he’d die for ya. We’ve got 2 of h...is brothers and his mum is in pups he’s breeding really good dogs too. Magnificent type, big strong barrier. Must be all the Cobber he’s been eating! 5th gen Pandara of that bloodline." Photo credit - Renae Foss #CobberAmbassador
