25.01.2022 This pregnant mum has not felt like exercising very much lately but I do feel 1000x better when I do sneak in a quick session.

18.01.2022 Just another reason to get off the lounge and get moving (even in these colder months). Also a reminder for the school kids and uni students, that exercise will actually help your school work. So don’t forget to make it part of your day even when you are very busy.

18.01.2022 A great video to help explain pain and why it doesn’t always make sense

17.01.2022 Keep moving over these colder months. Even doing a small amount of exercise at low intensity helps reduce our brain ageing

14.01.2022 BALANCE Many people think of balance as only being a problem for the elderly. However, balance has been shown to start to decline as early as in your 50’s. As we grow into responsible adults we stop taking part in risky activities such as riding skateboards and jumping off ledges. ... As a result we stop challenging our balance and our processing speeds slow down. This means that by the time the brain has recognised they we have tripped on a mat or stood on an uneven surface, and sent the message back to the muscles and joints required to correct or catch ourselves, it is too late and we can often fall. When we are younger the processing speed is so quick we correct this imbalance before it becomes an issue and we barely notice it. While this all sounds very depressing, the good news is we can change it. It is so important to challenge your balance before it becomes an issue. Simple exercises like standing on one foot for 1 minute can help keep your processing speeds fast. During Clinical Pilates we are constantly incorporating balance exercises into the stability and strength exercises. Changes in balance and control can be seen as quick as during one session. It is so rewarding to know that you are actively doing something to keep you quick on your feet!

14.01.2022 Putting your legs in straps while doing a roll down exercise limits the ability of your hip flexors to assist in the movement. This means that your abdominal muscles have to work harder in isolation. Simple adjustments can help you work the muscles you intend to strengthen and decrease unwanted compensations.

13.01.2022 With HSC approaching, remind your kids to get out there and burn some energy. It will actually help their studies.

11.01.2022 Cobbitty Pilates will close on the 22nd of December for the Christmas break. We will open again in February (exact date TBC) once I have recovered from the shock of having another newborn.

11.01.2022 Rolling into the weekend.

06.01.2022 A great article with some very interesting points for those running or setting a running related goal.

05.01.2022 We are temporarily closed.

05.01.2022 It’s nice to be back (not quite to normal) but definitely appreciating being back in the clinic. Mixing up the equipment layout to increase our social distancing.
