23.01.2022 RECRUITING ANNOUNCEMENTS We can announce 3 new signings for 2020 Liam Loubey - Liam is a midfield/forward, very high skill level on both sides of his body and has a high work ethic. He comes from the very strong Colac Football Club, he’s looking for more senior opportunities and we believe he will have a strong impact with our midfield group. ... Sean Battistello - Sean has moved back from Melbourne to the family farm at Eckiln. Sean was playing for Preston in the Under 19s last year, he has already shown to be a great runner on the track and we look forward to developing his football at senior level in 2020. Tom Fischer - Tom attended Marcus Oldam in Geelong with current player Lachie Davis last year, he came up and played a reserves game but unfortunately hurt his knee which put the rest of season on ice. Tom is from Kangaroo Island and is back at Marcus in 2020 and is very keen to come back and play this year, he a strong bodied midfielder which will provide us with some more strength around the ball. These 3 young men have what we are looking for in our recruiting, strong work ethic, great character and are keen to help our club move towards sustained success. 10.01.2022 The Cobden Football Netball Club offers its deepest sympathy to the Twynstra Family on the passing of local football legend Fred Twynstra who passed away on Thursday after battling cancer in recent times. Fred transferred to Cobden mid-way through the 1979 season and incredibly took out the Under-18 Hampden League Goal Kicking award despite only playing half of the season! He quickly established himself as a senior player after making his debut in 1981 going on to play 168-se...nior games over the next 10 years before he transferred across to Camperdown mid-way through the 1991 season. Due to current restrictions, the funeral will be by invite only with the burial to follow at the Cobden Cemetery on Friday July 3rd. Our thoughts are with Sue, Anthony and Louise, Lynicka and Chris and the entire Twynstra family at this time.

10.01.2022 RECRUITING ANNOUNCEMENTS It’s with great excitement that we can announce the return of former Club Captain Ricky Sullivan to the Cobden FNC This is a very exciting announcement, he’s highly respected through the HFNL as a multiple interleague representative and Vic Country player, but it’s not only what he can offer on the field but what he can offer through his knowledge of the game. ... Since moving to Queensland 8 years ago, Ricky has put together an impressive resume, we he played for the Thuringowa Bulldogs in Townsville, playing in 2 premierships and also coaching them another premiership. He spent 7 years with Gold Coast Suns Academy; 4 as Townsville region coach and 3 as Head Assistant Coach of there under 18s on the Gold Coast. Ricky’s passion is developing young footballers, and will work extensively on the defensive craft and defensive structures of our game style. He can’t wait to pass of his knowledge to our young playing group This club means so much to Ricky, his family have been part of the fabric of this football club his whole life. 08.01.2022 To all our supporters, sponsors, players, members and the greater community. Just keeping you in the loop as to what the club is doing at the moment. As you know we are governed by the rules and regulations the government has put in place ,this weekend may give us a better idea as to what the future holds. As far as the league is concerned we had a video meeting early April, there were possible scenarios that we went over at that meeting, if we did came back and what the rest... of the season may look like. Again these are governed by what the rules will be at the time we must wait and see. This Wednesday evening, 13th of May, we meeting at Hampden League level and l will inform you of the outcome. Our Treasurer has been working hard behind the scenes, working out budgets for the year so far and paying the bills as we still have expenses, and I thank Jess for this. Also to Russell an the Tattslotto crew thanks for your tireless work keeping that up and running in difficult times. Its great to see our netballers and footballers still training under the current rules and maintaining their fitness as best we can. I thank all those involved for setting this up. I don't have much more to say just that I hope you are all safe and well. Cheers Darren Mounsey President CFNC PS look out for next post - the league are looking for the BEST TEAM of the last twenty years (2000 to 2019) both football and netball!!! I will need your help to submit our players.. start thinking! See more

06.01.2022 At the moment we have a few current and former players playing footy in different states. As you know Christian Koronoes, Sam Giblett and Josh Hickey, as well as young Alvie Key Postion player Lochie Rosevear, have been playing for Port Douglas up in AFL Cairns League. With only a couple of games left they are heavy favourites to take out both the senior and reserve premierships. We want to wish these players all the best for remaining games and finals series. Hopefully they ...can enjoy some premiership success A few boys have headed up to Darwin for the upcoming season in the NTFL which kicks off this weekend. 2020 recruit Liam Louby will be having a crack with powerhouse club St.Mary’s while Grady Rooke and former player Jack Hammond take off today and will be playing with Reigning Premier Nightcliff. We wish these boys good luck and that they enjoy this new adventure that they are on and enjoy getting back out on the field and having a kick.

02.01.2022 The Hampden Football Netball League, along with all 11 Members Clubs have today, announced the decision to cancel the 2020 Hampden Football Netball League Senior Football and Netball Premiership Seasons. Please see attached statement from the HFNL.

02.01.2022 Over the past 4 weeks the players have still been keeping up with the training standards in preparation for a season that we hope will commence at some stage. Players were put into 7 groups of 7-8 members with challenges each week and a point system for their training activity to keep up the competitive aspect. Activities from big bike rides to walking the dog would accumulate points for their group, help them stay active and make sure we stay connected as a team. Below are ...some of the better performances, as the boys would post what they were doing. Hopefully everyone is staying safe, abiding by the current restrictions in place and at some stage we can resume out on the field and courts sooner rather than later. Adam Courtney Senior Coach
