22.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE Regarding the positive COVID-19 results at the Colac Meat Works and subsequent Trinity College student result. We have not been made aware of any direct contact for Cobden Primary School community members. DHHS are tracing this situation very carefully. If there are any changes we will inform you. D.E.T advises that families who have spent time in the Melbourne Metropolitan area at any time in the past two weeks should remain vigilant regarding signs or sympto...ms. I sought advice from D.E.T this week regarding this situation. Its clear: If you or your close family member visited the Melbourne Metropolitan area or the Mitchell shire at any time in the previous fortnight (this remains an ongoing timeline) that you should: 1. Check your childs temperature regularly. 2. Keep them isolated at home if they are unwell. 3. Seek COVID-19 testing should they be unwell. 4. Keep them isolated if they were knowingly in contact with a person who has tested positive to COVID-19. 5. Send them to school if they have no signs or symptoms or were not knowingly in contact with a person who has tested positive to COVID-19. See more

18.01.2022 Today our Foundation students celebrated days of learning! Although not all together today, we are very proud of how well they have been working at home and all that they have achieved so far this year. Well Done!

18.01.2022 Good Afternoon all. Term 3 commences tomorrow at Cobden Primary School. All students outside the Melbourne metropolitan area and the Mitchell Shire are expected to return as normal. We sympathise with families and colleagues in the affected areas as we know first hand the challenges associated with remote learning. We must remain vigilant. If students or staff are unwell or present with any symptoms associated with COVID 19 we urge that they remain home, seek medical advice a...nd be tested. In the case of testing, the result may not be known for a week. If this is the case please ensure isolation is enacted as per your medical advice. Please ensure the school is informed as soon as possible if this is the case. Your teacher will ensure school work is provided. If children present to school unwell we will contact you to collect them. Upon contacting you we may seek permission to temperature check your child. We sincerely hope that our region will remain COVID free but it will only be so if we take precautionary measures. We wish you all the very best as we commence another challenging term which has become the norm in 2020. See more

17.01.2022 PUPIL FREE DAY - FRIDAY 18 September 2020 What a challenging few weeks. The staff at Cobden Primary School have commented many times on the great job that the students and parents are doing during this second remote and flexible learning period. You will recall that all regional schools were permitted an extra Pupil Free Day in Term 3 for forward planning. Many schools used this at the start of Remote Learning 2 but we felt that in our context that it would be better utilised... later in the term. School Council has identified and approved Fri 18 September 2020 as our date for this additional Pupil Free Day. This is the last day of term. That would mean that there would be no students attending on site and that there would be no remote learning classes that day. The students would complete their Term 3 requirements on Thursday 17 September 2020. Staff will use that day to plan units for Term 4. We certainly hope that Term 4 will be fully on-site - but - we have no way of knowing that right now. We are keeping our fingers crossed. We wish you all the very best for the remainder of Term 3. Peter Lee

17.01.2022 COVID-19 Update regarding the arrangements for Term 2, 2020. DET operating guidelines have been communicated to schools today, Tuesday 7 April 2020. Central to this is the requirement for all schools to enact their remote learning programs. This means that all students must be learning at home except in the following circumstances *When they are not able to be supervised at home and no other arrangements can be made.... This will be available for children of parents who cannot work from home, and vulnerable children, including: -children in out-of-home care -children deemed by Child Protection and/or Family Services to be at risk of harm -children identified by the school as vulnerable (including via referral from a family violence agency, homelessness or youth justice service or mental health or other health service and children with a disability). A full briefing will be forwarded to parents on Thursday 9 April 2020 via Class Dojo, Skoolbag and FB. In the meantime, please continue to observe the COVID-19 protocols as legislated by the Victorian Government. Regards Cobden Primary School Staff See more

16.01.2022 Good Afternoon School Closure: In response to the escalation in COVID-19 cases in this state, the Premier of Victoria has declared that the school holiday break is being moved forward to Tuesday 24 March 2020 for all Victorian schools. Announcements regarding the resumption of school in Term 2 will be made upon information from the Premier and the Department of Education and Training- Vic. At this stage schools will reopen on Wed 15 April 2020. However, I must stress that ...this is an ever-evolving situation and subject to change. You will be notified of any changes. Regarding School Work: All children have learning packages and are linked to their teachers via Class Dojo. Staff can and will communicate via this platform during normal school hours. Please note that the work requirements are consistent across year levels. For example, all Year 6 students receive the same resources. Please do not put undue pressure on your child or yourself in an attempt to complete tasks. This is an extraordinary situation and time for understanding. This is not home-schooling. This is an unprecedented emergency situation with world-wide impact. The work provided is merely suggested course work. There will be no pressure from the school regarding completion but there will be support should you need it. Please listen to advice from the Victorian Health Department and the Victorian Government regarding wide-spread shutdowns and take care through this incredibly difficult time. Peter Lee Principal

02.01.2022 Update COVID-19 Coronavirus- Fri 27 March 2020- Thank-you to all Cobden Primary School Community members for your action during this unpredictable and worrying time. State and Federal Governments have demanded self-isolation, where possible, and we appreciate what you are doing in order to halt the spread of this disease. We sympathise with the many people in our community who are also dealing with loss of income, jobs and security. This is the time to seek support and to e...nsure that you access Government assistance if eligible. This is an incredibly stressful time for all. Cobden Primary School staff have been working this week to ensure readiness for long term remote learning should the need arise. The following advice is subject to change: As it stands today, the Department of Education and Training of Victoria (D.E.T) is advising that students will return on Wednesday 15 April 2020. We are guided by the D.E.T administration and we will ensure that you are informed of changes as soon as they are announced. 01.01.2022 Hi everyone! Im posting this on behalf of the 1st Cobden Scout Group, who have organised an online live-streamed ANZAC Day service. It will be held this Saturd...ay at 11am and will be able to be found on this page at that time. We would also like to encourage people to stand at the end of their driveways during this service, or at least during the last post, to honour the soldiers who fought for our country, as a community. This is a very different time to anything we know, and we think this is a great way to bring the community together from the safety and comfort of our own homes. No one from the public can come to the memorial during this service, due to stage 3 restrictions. The only people at the memorial will be a family of 5 from the scout group. We hope to see as many people as we can watching this service, and honouring the ANZACs together. See more

Again, this will be determined by DET regulations. As you can imagine we share the disappointment of some of these announcements with you. These things are out of our control.
