25.01.2022 Sorry the raffle results are a bit late tonight. It was good to be able to have some of our members at the Club tonight when the draw was done. But those who were not there will be pleased to know that you still have a chance to see you name on the video of the draw. Thanks again for your support.

18.01.2022 On Saturday 21st Cobram hosted Finley in Division 2 and Barooga in Division 3. A win in Div 2 and we came second in Div 3!. Fortunately the cloud cover stayed around most of the afternoon.

16.01.2022 Here is the updated version of return to play guidelines from BV. Please read so that you understand why we may have to ask you to do things differently than you did in the 2019 - 20 season. Please BYO water bottles that can be refilled from water coolers. Please note that Cobram can now have 74 people inside the Club House. We will have 7 tables of 10 set up. 3 in Bar area and 4 in Dining Room. Please do not crowd & remember to keep your mask handy for those situations when... you cannot stay 1.5m away from others. https://www.bowlsvic.org.au//return-to-play-update-as-vic/

16.01.2022 The following COVID -update was circulated by Murray Bowls Division and is correct as at 1 October 2020. Welcome to the new world of playing bowls in a covid environment. We are fortunate in that we are now able to play a pennant season, albeit one with a few more challenges than normal. As you know the conditions under which we are able to play are constantly changing, so the guidelines which we outline below could be totally different tomorrow! The bottom line is that we m...ust all abide by the relevant restrictions in whichever state we are playing. Social distancing is important all round. Border Crossing There is currently a border region which stretches along the NSW-Victorian border which includes all of our Murray Division clubs. To cross the border each individual player must obtain a border region resident permit. This permit is based on your residential address and allows the holder to travel anywhere within the border region for any reason. Permits can be obtained online at www.service.nsw.gov.au. The permit is valid for 14 days and only takes a few minutes to obtain. Please note that Victorian residents can not have travelled outside of the border region in the 14 days prior to crossing the border. To check whether an address is within the border region go to https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/border-zone-address-checkand type the required address into the search box. Clubs may need to appoint someone to facilitate the obtaining of permits for those players who do not have access to the website. Face Coverings Face coverings are mandatory in Victoria. People will need to wear a fitted face mask that covers the nose and mouth. Face shields, bandannas and scarfs will no longer be acceptable, with anyone seen wearing these risking a fine for breaching coronavirus public health measures. The DHHS directive provides for face coverings to be removed during strenuous exercise, therefore Bowls Victoria recommends that a player may remove a face covering when puffing or breathing heavily, however it must be replaced once a player has caught their breath. If the mask is removed, it should be kept on the person. A face mask is not required if a person is affected by a relevant medical condition, including problems with their breathing, a serious condition of the face, a disability or a mental health condition. A medical certificate is not required. A plastic face mask insert can make breathing more comfortable. They are sometimes called a breathing bracket insert and are available online. Please be respectful of those players who have genuine reasons for not wearing a mask. Club Facilities We all need to be mindful that different Clubs will have differing conditions of operation imposed upon them by their relevant governing bodies. We will inform you of any relevant information closer to the commencement of the season. See more

14.01.2022 Wunghnu has a Triples tournament on Saturday October 24th at 1pm

14.01.2022 Only 6 weeks till Pennant starts - so time to improve our fitness levels. Check out this free routine (or others offered by HASFIT). They are very encouraging and non-judgemental! No special equipment needed (no need to go out and by lycra) - have a chair handy and a couple of small water bottles (even that is not essential) In the words of Olivia Newton John - "let's get physical" - in the privacy of our own home. https://www.youtube.com/watch

14.01.2022 Bowls Australia has approved three laser measures for use at ALL levels of competition in Australia. At Cobram, to my knowledge, we have one member with an "Impulse Laser Measure" and two of our members (who are also accredited umpires) each have a "Crackerjack Laser Measure". Laser measures are recommended for use between 30cm & 5 metres. Expect that you will see some of these being used in the upcoming Pennant games and other competitions. You cannot stretch or bend a ray of light! If you would like a copy of the memo, please send your details in a message.

12.01.2022 Good luck everyone! With this weather we are lucky we didn't have to go to the Club to get the results of this Week 2 draw of the Safe Step Covid Roadmap Raffle.

09.01.2022 Cobram Bowling Club Inc Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday 4th October at 2pm. The meeting will be conducted outdoors at the Bowling Club. To assist with planning seating, can you please indicate your intention to attend (or apology) on the sheet on the back wall at the Club. We are still looking for nominations for the combined Match Committee

08.01.2022 Hope you remembered to do this, or you might miss the AGM at 2pm on Sunday 4th October.

06.01.2022 Do you usually Car Pool, particularly for travel to pennant and other competitions? Bowls Australian and Bowls Victoria are currently seeking government clarification on how many people can travel in a vehicle, and will provide a formal update once it is received. The DHHS website answers the question as follows:... "Can I have passengers in my car? Under Second Step restrictions in metro Melbourne, you shouldn't have passengers in your car unless they live with you. You can only take a passenger in your car who's not from your household if they're going out for a permitted reason but can't drive themselves or don’t have a car. You can drive a young child in your care if you can't leave them unaccompanied at home. Under Third Step restrictions in regional Victoria, where possible you should avoid having passengers in your car unless they’re from your household or household bubble. There is a higher risk of transmitting COVID-19 in the enclosed space of a car. Where possible, any passengers who are not from your household should sit in the back seat for physical-distancing reasons. You should both wear a face mask in the car." So BA and BV provide the following information: "Our current understanding & interpretation is as follows: Only the driver and one passenger can travel in vehicle to and from required destination if not an immediate family member. The passenger is required to travel in the rear seat diagonally across from the driver to ensure 1.5m separation is achieved. Under no circumstances can a passenger travel in front seat unless an immediate family member. At all times Face masks must be worn during travel. Normal COVID-19 restrictions in confined spaces are to be adhered to." So to avoid being stopped and receiving a fine it is recommended that you adhere to the above requirements when required to travel for Pennant or tournaments. This interpretation would also apply to NSW based Clubs travelling into Victoria. INFORMATION CORRECT AS AT 2 OCTOBER 2020

04.01.2022 Here in Regional Victoria we are grateful to be able to get back on the green - particularly when the weather was perfect today. We are getting used to playing in accordance with Government restrictions - learning all sorts of new habits. We welcomed 31 bowlers (including a few visitors from other Regional Victoria locations) to our Club selected Covid 2-bowl Triples. At the end of 3 games there was only one team with 3 wins. Congratulations to Marg, Paul and Laurie. It was difficult to see their grins as they were all masked up. Runners up, with 2 games and 2 points clear of the only other 2-game winner were Maree, Andrew (AKA Rowdy) and Peter. By chance best 1st Game went to Kerry, Ken (a visitor) and Chris (who had been pipped for the runner-up prize.)

02.01.2022 A successful day for Cobram 1 when they took on Picola in the Midweek Pennant competition on Friday 20th. It was warm when the game started at 10am so seeking shade was the order of the day.
