25.01.2022 Justin farewell

25.01.2022 WE ARE OPEN We are very much looking forward to welcoming you all back to our magnificent club! Victorian visitors can travel freely into Barooga, as regional NSW remains a green zone. Only condition for Victorian guests is the need to apply for a permit to re-enter Victoria after your visit. Permits can be applied for at the following address: https://www.service.vic.gov.au/services/border-permit/home... Locals will only need a driver's license as proof of residency to cross back and forth across the border. Come and enjoy all the best the Murray Region has to offer with Cobram-Barooga! See more

24.01.2022 We had 3 of our junior superstars participate in this weeks team for the Victorian Junior Virtual Pennant over the weekend. Casey Chandler, Kohen Haddrell and Sam Trembath represented the Goulburn Murray District along with 7 other players in region 3 and defeated Commonwealth. Goulburn Murray also defeated Huntingdale last week and are positioned on top of the ladder! The team is set to play Cardinia Beaconhills next week. Well done team!

24.01.2022 We are delighted to announce that the Sporties Group were advised last Thursday that we were successful in our application for $600,000 under the Federal Murray Darling Basin Economic Development Program to go towards a golf entertainment precinct. While this is fantastic news, it is only one part of the required funding to deliver the project. To deliver a golf focussed entertainment project, we are reliant on not only the Federal Funding, but also funding from the NSW State... Government. We have a current application for $400,000 lodged under the NSW Cross Border Commissioner’s Infrastructure Fund and are hopeful that this announcement will give the NSW government the confidence to provide the additional funding support. We are excited and buoyed by this positive news in these challenging times and while maintaining the same focus and aiming to deliver the same financial outcomes, the project has had to undergo some review and adjustments and this is something we are continuing to work through. We remain confident that our project will bring not only a tremendous new activity for locals, but will be a key tourist attraction, building on golf, a recognised strength of the region.

21.01.2022 Important Update for CBGC Golf Members: The following excerpt was received this morning from ClubsNSW: "This morning the NSW Minister for Sport, Geoff Lee, announced that golf courses and bowling greens can remain open.... (Mr Lee) advised that golf courses are allowed to be open as long as they follow the social distancing rule; no more than two in a group at the same time. The Minister also said that lawn bowls and tennis can continue to be played, as long as they were confined to two people. The website of the NSW Office of Sport has now been updated to clarify that golf and other sports can be played provided it is undertaken in compliance with the Public Health Orders, meaning that people must not participate in groups greater than two persons at any point in time. Yesterday, ClubsNSW advised that golf courses and bowling greens needed to close. This advice was based on the information and advice which was available at the time. As noted above, the NSW Government’s advice has subsequently changed, thereby permitting golf, bowls and tennis to continue." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Based on the above, active immediately, both the Old and West course are open. We advise all of our members to comply with the Public Health Orders and the restrictions that come with it. Keep an eye on our Facebook Page and the Notice Page of the Sporties website for further updates. Stay Safe. https://sporties.com.au/our-club/notices/

14.01.2022 On the back of Victoria’s ongoing COVID crisis, the NSW Premier announced today that from 11.59pm Tuesday night (07/07/20), the NSW/Victorian Border will be closed. We are still waiting for clarification around the details and hopeful that some concessions will be made available to our border communities to allow residents of Cobram and Barooga to move between the states. As more information comes to hand, we will update our social media and website. Thanks for your ongoing cooperation during this challenging time. Stay Safe https://sporties.com.au/

10.01.2022 UPDATE TO MEMBERS Dear Members, As of midnight last night, the NSW Government significantly increased restrictions on cross border travel within our NSW-VIC border zone. The impact of this means that 80% of our local members are not able to enjoy any of our facilities.... While these conditions makes our operations extremely challenging, it is our aim to remain open for the use and enjoyment of our NSW residents, while it is safe and responsible to do so. I continue to be humbled by our staff, who remain upbeat and engaged despite the raft of changes and complications. We believe it is also vitally important to keep our team engaged and motivated. To those who are able to visit, our team would dearly love to see you right now. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to all our members who have continued to support us since our reopening on the 12th of June. We appreciate your ongoing understanding as our environment constantly adapts and evolves. We look forward to welcoming back our Victorian Members and Visitors, when the authorities say it is safe to do so and in the meantime, we will monitor the situation and communicate any updates via our website, email and social pages. Regards Bobby Brooks CEO

10.01.2022 It is with an enormous amount of joy and relief that we can welcome our Regional Victorians back into NSW. Our Amazing Team will be eagerly awaiting to do what they do best which is put smiles on your faces Whether it’s a tasty quick bite to eat, delightful a la carte dining, a relaxing coffee, a quick round of golf or bowls, perhaps a sweaty workout at the gym, IT’S TIME, finally, to get your backside northside of that river!! We know it has been an incredibly challenging ...time being isolated and locked down in Victoria but equally, it has been agonisingly quiet without you. We all hope this is the beginning of better times and it would be remiss if we did not make a few acknowledgements: 1. Thank you for the ongoing support and patronage from our NSW members and visitors during the border closure. This has kept our doors open and our staff engaged 2. A big thank you to our amazing staff who have been very patient and supportive of each other and the Organisation, working reduced hours, in a less than normal environment. They have remained committed to turning up for work and doing extra training during this eerily quiet time 3. Thank you also to our golf course crew who have managed to maintain our beautiful golf course and surrounds and at the same time, assist with the ongoing development of our new golf precinct. Furthermore, they have managed to do this while still working reduced hours 4. Thank you to the team at Sporties Health and Fitness, under the caretaker guidance of Tony Tranter. It has been a roller coaster year for our Health & Fitness Centre and to say that the team is ready for you, would be a huge understatement Amid the excitement, we must still be very cautious and safe, abiding by social distancing and good hygiene. The very last thing we want is any relapse, so the same strict rules apply: - if you are experiencing any symptoms, please stay at home - if you have been in contact with anyone from high risk areas, please stay at home - if your residential address is a high-risk area, you will not be granted entry See you soon!!

10.01.2022 Great News for our Cobram and Border Community Members and Patrons! 04.01.2022 IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING PRO SHOP & COMPETITIONS 06/05/2020 Dear Members,... After having long discussions it has been decided to commence competition golf under the conditions of Golf Australia’s isolation policies. On behalf of the pro shop and golf committee we would like to thank everyone for their cooperation in adhering to the social distancing restrictions. During this period, the ground staff have taken the opportunity to complete our yearly renovation to the greens on both courses. Thank you to those members who have utilised the course for exercise and for helping maintain the condition of our great facility during this time. Please read the following information carefully: - Golf Competitions will commence on Wednesday 13th May and timesheets are beginning to open - Most competitions will be individual Men’s and Ladies events, played in a medley timesheet - All groups will consist of 2 players only and play will be from one tee only - One player and one set of clubs per cart will apply except for cohabitating couples (live together) who are exempt and may share a cart - Individual carts can be hired for $10 per cart - All golf must be booked online or call the pro shop. 04.01.2022 Live & Free on the CBGC Deck from 3PM

03.01.2022 OUR COURTESY COACH IS STILL AVAILABLE We can confirm that our courtesy coach is still operating between Barooga and Cobram despite the NSW Border closure. Anyone wishing to utilize our courtesy coach during the border shutdown must always have the following items in their possession while on the bus:... - Your Victorian or NSW Driver’s License / Proof of Age Card - Valid COVID 19 NSW border declaration permit applied for on the service NSW website Our Bus Drivers have been instructed to confirm that passengers are in possession upon entering the bus and this will also be checked by the NSW Police when trying to enter NSW. To further clarify our previous post about the Cross-Border Community Permits, these permits allow the recipient to travel 50km each side of the border. This is deemed a ‘cross-border community’. If a permit holder is to leave that 50km bubble either side of the border without another permit exempting them from these rules, the C permit becomes invalid. Upon reentering NSW once the permit has become invalid, you will be required to isolate for 14 days. Therefore, it is imperative, that, if you apply for a cross-border community permit you are not to go outside this 50km radius of the border without another permit exempting you. Courtesy Coach bookings can be made here https://cbgc.com.au/contact-us/book-courtesy-bus/ although you will not be allowed on the bus without the aforementioned required documentation.

03.01.2022 One Tough Golfer!!! Those who play golf will appreciate this. A man and his wife walked into a dentist's office. The man said to the dentist, "Doc, I'm in one heck of a hurry. I have two buddies sitting out in my car waiting for us to go play golf, so forget about the anaesthetic, I don't have time for the gums to get numb. ... I just want you to pull the tooth, and be done with it! We have a 10:00am tee time at the best golf course in town and it's 9:30 already...I don't have time to wait for the anaesthetic to work! The dentist thought to himself, "Well, well, at last a golfer with real balls!!" So the dentist asks him, "Which tooth is it sir? The man turned to his wife and said, "Open your mouth, honey, and show the dentist.

02.01.2022 Out walking the fury friends? Why not call into our dog friendly outdoor deck and treat yourself to a hot coffee or a cool drink! All dogs welcome, big or small!
