22.01.2022 As an organisation that strives to uphold the values of equality, fairness and diversity, Basketball Victoria wishes to voice its unequivocal support for the er...adication of racism in sport and the wider community. We recognise that there is an urgent need to address the way in which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, African-Australian, African-American and all black communities are treated here in Australia, the United States and many other places in the world. Basketball Victoria and its leagues - NBL1, Big V, VJBL and the CBL encourage, value and celebrate the participation and contributions of players, coaches and officials from these communities. They deserve the same level of respect and opportunity as any other person in society. We will continue to work with all communities to create the most welcoming basketball environments, free from all forms of prejudice and discrimination. #BlackLivesMatter.

22.01.2022 Today is 'Wear Your Colours' day! Join the rest of the Victorian basketball community in sharing photos of yourselves, your family, your pets, in their basketball gear and use the hashtag #BVWearYourColours.

19.01.2022 Hope you're all safe and sane. I hope we've all been practicing whilst we've been waiting for basketball to come back! We'll be sharing a series of videos, from Basketball Hawthorn over the next few weeks, to help you practice your skills at home. Be sure to watch, listen, and focus on technique before you build up your speed. Enjoy!

18.01.2022 Here's something to help our basketballers hone their skills during this 'offseason'. There are different levels for all kinds of age groups/skill levels. I suggest you start at the start, and work your way through each and every challenge. It's all practice! https://www.mckinnonbasketball.org/otc

17.01.2022 Today we stand as one, even though we can’t stand together. This ANZAC Day, reflect on the Australian servicemen and women who have stood tall when our country... needed them the most. These are difficult times, but we will get through them. That is the ANZAC way. Thank you to all who have served our country and to those that are serving today. Lest we forget. #ANZACDay

16.01.2022 A small step forward announced by the Victorian government this morning! Whilst indoor basketball remains off limits, you can now shoot hoops outdoors with some mates. Please adhere to all rules surrounding restrictions, social distancing, and hygiene and we'll be back playing the game we love a lot sooner!

16.01.2022 Some helpful content for anyone wanting to help out with coaching roles when our domestic competition resumes

15.01.2022 Yesterday, the Victorian Government made announcements relating to the easing of restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this included allowing people to par...ticipate in outdoor activities or train in community sport in groups of up to 10 people (plus a coach / supervisor). Basketball Victoria supports this approach, as it recognises that sport and exercise play a critical role in the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of Victorians, but importantly this must be balanced with the risk of transmitting coronavirus. While this provides an opportunity for many of us to get back into participating in basketball outside of our home environment, Basketball Victoria wants to emphasise that how we all collectively act in the coming weeks will directly affect the health of our community and our sports ability to return to more regular indoor activity in the near future. We are being provided an opportunity to enjoy a level of sport and exercise outdoors in the short term, but we must not compromise safety, nor the reputation of the sport at this vitally important time. For those wishing to participate outdoors we suggest you refer to Basketball Victoria’s Outdoor Training Guidelines that have been developed in line with government restrictions and the AIS Framework for Rebooting Sport. Should you choose to participate outdoors, have fun, but please do so in a safe and respectful manner. For a full update and guidance on outdoor activity / training - please visit http://basketballvictoria.com.au/covid-19/
