Suhel Anwar takes the captaincy this week after his game-changing knock of 92 in our VSDCA 3rd XI's victory over Kew.... 25.01.2022 The ladies get the trifecta! While the ladies 4th XI are still on the summer break, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd XI all chalked up a win today! Congratulations to the 3 senior women’s teams for this fantastic achievement. ... Special mentions this weekend go to: 1st XI - Katherine Jansen took 5/20 (8) as well as 2 catches and Stephanie Theodore made 38 of the 63 runs required to win. 2nd XI - Emily Duoba took 3/9 (7) and Charlotte Dempsey took 3/7 (5) in the 2nd XI. Lasharne Wallace top scored with 21 runs 3rd XI - Ziggy Manty made 40 and Sylvia Lushaj took 2/13 (9) Keep up the great work ladies!!

24.01.2022 Congratulations to Amila Kariyawasam on being selected to make his 1st XI debut this weekend! Amila is in his third season at the club, and will provide clean striking and excellent fielding to Aaron Shellie’s side. Congratulations Amila!

23.01.2022 VMCU junior girls semi finals: Congratulations to the NWMCA representative girls teams that have won their way through to the semi finals! The U/12, U/14, U/16 and U/18 girls will all play in semi finals tomorrow (Thursday) and hope to win through to the big dance!... 23.01.2022 Well done the the ladies 2nd XI for their first win of the season! Lots of hard work and persistence has paid off, with a mostly junior team of girls, under the captaincy of Assistant Coach Tracey Gleeson. Many close losses has finally resulted in the win that we knew they are capable of. Congratulations also to the ladies 3rd XI on their second win for the season, with 50 not out and 52 not out (mandatory retirement) respectively to Eva Natsis and Jess Martin! Go Burgers The ladies 1st XI had a bye today and currently sit equal 1st on the ladder, ready to head into the One Day half of the season after Christmas, with a top of the table match vs Frankston on January 9th.

20.01.2022 Subbies Sweep! Congratulations to our Victorian Sub District Cricket Association men's sides for securing wins across all four grades this weekend. A particular highlight of this round were the leading performances of younger players in our seconds, thirds and fourths. ... Well done lads!

20.01.2022 Women’s Cricket at Coburg Have you been thinking of getting into cricket this summer? Coburg Cricket Club has a 27 year history of women’s cricket, with the 2019/20 season being our most successful year ever! ... We cater for U/10, 12, 14 and 16 junior girls-only teams, as well as 4 senior women’s teams for all abilities. There are also opportunities to play in mixed junior teams. Coburg CC has a team in the Cricket Victoria ‘Shield’ grade, which is a highly competitive grade - the highest grade of cricket outside the Premier League. We also have grades for inexperienced/social players, with a team in the NWMCA, as well as the Cricket Victoria North A and B grades. The women are coached by former Australian player, Stephanie Theodore, and also the highly experienced Tracey Gleeson. If you are interested in playing women’s cricket, please send us a message!

With all four Victorian Sub District Cricket Association sides claiming victories, and a strong performance from our Women's 1st XI, there were no shortage of candidates for this week's team.... Nat Egan assumes the captaincy this week following a stunning 5/4 in the CV Women's Shield, while Nathan Prouse's breakthrough innings of 57no earns him the coveted number three spot. 11.01.2022 3rd XI Captaincy Announcement We are delighted to announce that Luke Wentworth will again be taking the reigns of our men's 3rd XI this season. Luke captained our 3rd XI to second place and a semi-final last season, and he will be looking to improve upon that result in the year to come. ... A proven run scorer at 3rd XI level, Luke took out the batting average last season with 282 runs at an average of 28.2. Luke also provides a solid bowling option with his slow-medium pace, and his shrewd tactics in the field will again be an asset to the team. Congratulations Luke!

11.01.2022 2nd XI: Sarvesh Shanbhag’s tenure as captain began with a win yesterday as our Men’s 2nd XI defended 142 against St Bernard’s. Having won the toss and elected to bat, our innings looked in trouble at 7/70, with only vice-captain Daniel Patrick (42) reaching double figures.... With the lower order needing to wag, Amila Kariyawasam struck a counter-attacking 37, while Michael Chiaramonte (14) and Arslan Khan (22) also provided vital runs as we set a target of 142. With a moderate total to defend, our bowlers delivered a stellar performance to win the game. Young spearheads Yahya Elmi (2/23) and Jacob Hutchinson (2/35) took crucial top order wickets, before Darren Scott (2/17) and Arslan Khan (0/17) applied the clamps in the middle overs. Off-spinner Abdullah Sohail (3/20) took key wickets in the final overs of the game as we sealed a 3 run victory against a strong Bernard’s side. Well done boys on a resilient display after a shaky start. Go Burgers!

10.01.2022 Men’s 1st XI: A great start to the season yesterday, thanks to a stunning debut performance from Fletcher Stewart Fletch’s 83no from 79 balls sealed our chase of 192. Jack Sheppard (2/30 and 24 from 28), Aaron Shellie (1/21) and Adrian Smith (1/15) and Shane Lee (23) also contributed in the win.... Well done lads!

09.01.2022 Season 2020/21 is due to get underway in a matter of weeks and promises to be a season like no other. One of the many challenges we face will be raising money to run our club. Abhiram Paleru takes the captaincy this week, after his brutal knock of 84 secured a maiden victory for our new Sunday VTCA side. Coach Steph Theodore (47no) again led the way in another fantastic win for our Women's 1st XI. ... There were a number of promising individual performances across the remaining grades, despite some disappointing match results. Well done to all who stood up this week. Go Burgers!
