20.01.2022 Dear Lions families, In light of recent events the EDFL have again postponed the start of a junior season and are currently reviewing the impact of hot spot lock downs on their junior competition. As most opposition teams are based in current lock down suburbs we don’t feel we can commit to a season as it stands today. The health and safety of our players, families and volunteers is at the forefront of every decision we make and we thank you for the trust you have put in us.... This does not mean the end of 2020 for our juniors! We will be working on a range of ways to keep footy going albeit in house for the time being. So give us a few weeks and watch this space! The EDFL are work shopping some different ways of playing junior football when it is safe to do so and we will be open to these options when the time is right. Any families who have paid for their registration in 2020 we are organising refunds into the account you paid with. I will contact you directly if I need more information! I want to end by thanking everyone single one of you for the commitment you have made to our club. We are a small club and we rely so much on all of you. So thank you! I would especially like to thank Lewis, Chris and Sandy for all their efforts getting our boys out training, as well as Adrian, Mel, Leigh, Andrew, Michael, Sam and James for all of their support and anyone else who has supported the club this year! 15.01.2022 Massive thanks to Clint Ross for applying for an Australia Post grant on behalf of the club's Junior program. Our club has been successful and has been granted $500 which we can use for new equipment in 2021 when we get back to footy again. Thanks again Clint!... #WeAreCoburg

10.01.2022 Bad news is never easy: Due to the rise in COVID cases over the past few days we have decided to cancel all junior training this week. I know this will be greatly disappointing for our kids and I really do apologize! This decision is not one the club has made lightly but the health and safety of our players and families is our main focus and always will be.... We thank everyone for your support for the past few weeks. We are hoping to be back on deck next week! Our season is still scheduled to start July 19th and if all goes well we will be handing out our match day jumpers at our training sessions the week before the season begins! We are all in this together. I can’t wait until we are back out on the park! Go Lions

08.01.2022 As we start to prepare as best as possible for the 2021 Junior Football season, we are now accepting expressions of interest for the following coaching roles. -U8's coaches -U10's Boy's Coaches -U10 Girl's Coach... -U12 Boy's Coaches -U12 Girl's Coach -Auskick Co-Ordinator -Child welfare officer Expressions of interest in these roles and any questions should be sent via email to Angela Livingstone - [email protected] In terms of Junior Boys and Girls footballers, to assist Angela and help her understand the amount of teams that we may have in 2021, please email her to advise of your child's intention to return in 2021 as a Coburg Juniors player. 07.01.2022 Official confirmation from the EDFL regarding the full cancellation of the EDFL's Junior football season for 2020. With the recent Government announcement of a six week lockdown, ending mid August, the opportunity of a Junior season commencing has been completely ruled out. The EDFL have advised all clubs that there will be NO FORMAL junior football season in 2020. The Council have also advised that all Council ovals/facilities are closed to sports clubs and their members u...ntil further notice. We want to acknowledge the efforts of our volunteers including our coaches and parents in trying to keep our kids playing in 2020. Once lockdown is complete we look forward to announcing some initiatives to again engage with our players, continue to develop and prepare for the 2021 season.
