23.01.2022 You are the Ocean. A simple practice I often teach is to imagine the Ocean breathing you, as you Inhale the wave (and belly) rises, as you exhale the wave falls (and belly contracts). Simply close your eyes, place attention on your breath and feel the Ocean merge with your breath. Whilst life is unfolding with much uncertainty and chaos for many, we often add to it by locking into the sympathetic nervous system (also called fight or flight) and you may find yourself feeli...ng like a kettle constantly boiling over and frustrated with people, situations, rules, the weather, whatever it is youll find something to keep reaching the bubbling over point. Well... we are not meant to stay in this state, Mother Nature reserved it for us when we needed to fight or run away from a tiger or similar equivalent in todays modern world, not for when our boss yells at us or someone doesnt do something the way we want. Good news, there are many simple things you can do to remind your body to come back to the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest - our natural state) the cool, calm, connected state. Meditate of course and being initiated into a practice ensures you are become a self sufficient meditator for life and a self sufficient human too . But right now... I hear you, what can you do right now before you learn or if youve learnt for the times you only have a few minutes? 23.01.2022 Slow and steady. I know you may feel that you are scrambled or fried eggs right now. Perhaps even an omelette gone wrong... but I want you to know, that you will be stronger, more resilient, innovative and stable because of this. It may take a while, but you will learn to ride the waves with beauty, ease and grace and you will surprise yourself with your innate untapped potential and creativity. Embrace what is, dont fight it. The only thing under your control is you and... how you respond. And sometimes that may be an extra hour of sleep and thats ok. Surround yourself with a cheer squad... We are such powerful human beings, in any given moment we can switch our state to that of sunshine, its just sometimes we get caught in the inside rain, well I know I certainly have before... 15.01.2022 Nothing is permanent. Just a gentle reminder as we each weave our way through the unchartered territories. Remember to breathe and know that were all in this together and will all move through it together. Be curious about what gifts and growth there are in the challenges you face. Here are two simple practices that can take 5mins - 30mins depending on how much time youve got.... #1 BELLY BREATHING Inhale for 4 seconds, belly rises Exhale for 4 seconds, belly falls. Repeat. Do this for 1-5mins every day and/or when ever you feel the stress/anxiety creeping in. #2 JOURNALING Dont knock it till you try it, unfiltered, just write anything that comes out. 1-3pages. If you want to go deeper I suggest The Artists Way. But for now, keep it really simple and follow the rule of better out that in and its incredibly beneficial to clear the head and the heart by getting it out and onto paper with no judgment, just action. 15.01.2022 Life is beautiful. Sometimes it might not feel that way and that’s ok, for it is the contrast that teaches us to grow and discover and direct our lives how best we can. Don’t banish your emotions, but do let them pass through you and guide you to your next step. See the thing is, 2020 has taught us so much and will continue to do so, my biggest takeaway right now is to be more honest and compassionate with myself, and to keep moving forward even when the path is unclear, be...cause the path is never truly clear, but your state of mind can be. One of the simplest ways to shift your state and move your mood into a positive and abundant space is to start simple - choose one thing that lights you up - it could be Catching a sunrise once a week, A weekly dinner or phone call with a friend(s) or a Friday night family dinner Being amongst nature and reminding yourself how expansive we can be workout at the gym or outside Think less about what habits you want to change and more about what you want to add... Choose something that can not be bought, that you’d deemed priceless. This is a fun exercise to do with friends and kids too, giving kids the autonomy to choose something that lights them up, that you can’t get on YouTube or Amazon ;) Choose one thing to start this weekend / coming week and repeat every week till the end October, do let me know how you go! Walked passed this the other day and the title felt fitting for this time we all find ourselves in and it reminded me to allow the unfolding versus resist it and I felt these words come to me: During the evolution of you and me and the world as it will reveal itself to be... There will be times that feel very low, and others that feel oh so high and moments that leave you feeling shy or wanting to eat a whole lotta pie. But no matter what the day or emotion presents, remember its time for you to go inside and connect and realise that the answers you seek are not in the haze or the media bubble. 14.01.2022 Peace out. Hello Weekend Did you know that being up before the sunrise brings peace of mind and freshness to the senses ultimately providing you more balance to you and your day. According to Ayurveda there are more loving qualities (sattvic) in Nature at this time. And the colours of the sky are pretty special too. ... My morning routine has been early 4:30am starts, wake up, wash my face and teeth, make a herbal tea, meditate, get to the gym by 5:45am and then a jump in the Ocean and watching the Sun greet us. Feeling grateful and a little tired now, so Im currently not moving from the couch but its well worth it. If youve been wanting to experience the morning bliss, here are a few other reasons for you to go from sleepy to clear eyes 1. Its free 2. 13.01.2022 Hello! Ive been in a bubble continuing my learning and inner deep diving away from the likes of Social Media and Ive enjoyed the clarity its provided / providing. But... as someone wise once said nobody puts baby in a corner? and perhaps thats what Ive been doing, enjoying time off the grid but equally realising that its time to step out of the corner that Im pretty good at backing myself into... can any of you relate??? Today I met one of my neighbours properly and had a deep and meaningful conversation, someone Ive only ever said hi to on the street and now we are all choosing to knock down any so called walls that may have existed. Here in Australia its @RuOKday and whilst we all know that every day is R u OK day (or will eventually learn over time) - This day acts as a beacon of light in raising awareness around Mental Health for ourselves and those around us. Truth is, life can feel overwhelming at times, things happen or dont happen and you may find yourself navigating your way through storms and dark clouds, that, if left to their own devices could or have hovered over y...ou like a bad smell and before you know it that fleeting moment of sadness has pulled up a chair and become a part of your day, week or year... There is so much to say here, but I wanted to say thank you to those that have shined their light and held space for me when Ive needed it and I hope I have and will continue to be there for you when you need it. We have this illusion that we should often figure things out all by ourselves, gosh knows I have felt that way... but sometimes that can feel so distant and on the road to realisation, its nice to know that we have the support and kindness of others when we have forgotten how to give it to ourselves. Be ok to not be ok and to reach out for support, and never, never never underestimate the power of a smile, a hug for another or being an ear for someone. Become the master witness and director of your thou...ghts, choose abundance, hope and faith over fear 2.
