20.01.2022 There’s been some good work going on here in the shed this week. Tyne Carlin brought his line boring equipment over from Chinchilla to do some repair work to a Caterpillar loader arms and bucket which had flogged out pivot points. He has a very professional setup.

19.01.2022 I think I might qualify for a government grant. It looks like I might be running a non profit organisation here.

18.01.2022 I’m at it again, more pump work for a local mine. It’s difficult to get enough expansion in the bearings without taking the temperature too high when the ambient temperature is up and the shaft is warm.

15.01.2022 Done and dusted, this barrel goes into service on Thursday. The pump pictured has a reported foreign bearing noise.

13.01.2022 Spent the day modifying little athletics hurdles to meet new specs so when the little fellas trip and fall and break a wrist,they don’t spear themselves with a vertical piece of metal. Sunday welding,relaxing listening to Pavarotti in double pluggers has sharpened my reaction time to a point that would make Bruce Lee squint. Just hoping the wrists stay in one piece.

10.01.2022 Just fitted a small handrail at a local state school. Tina and I went and took some measurements and I fabricated it in the shed. Fitted like a glove,very pleased. These are good bread and butter jobs.

10.01.2022 We were asked if we could do a bandaid repair on an old concrete tank that had a slight leak. It didn’t turn out too bad but I guess the proof will be when it fills again.

08.01.2022 I picked my truck and workshop crane up today from Ireland Engineering’s. The crane was blasted and painted and the truck cab has been repainted. I’m extremely pleased with the work that Jake did for me,a very professional set up. Their facilities are well suited to this type of work. Thanks again Fiona,Clint and Jake.

06.01.2022 Just finished repairing a John Deere fuel tank which had rusted out on the bottom. Even though it was almost filled with water with only a very small air space,it still erupted twice,shooting flames out of the drain and supply valves. Other than that bit of excitement,it was a successful repair and a happy customer.

02.01.2022 I machined up a plate for a customer yesterday to help him adapt some sort of Toyota motor to some sort of Toyota gearbox. The plate was required to plot the mounting holes from bell housing to gearbox apparently. .05 mm interference was ample. Another happy customer,even though it was a very basic machining job.

02.01.2022 Just bought an old 360 degree/1tonne hoist from a farmer. It has now been blasted and painted. Can’t wait to get it in the shed,it will be a real game changer for me.
