25.01.2022 PLEASE SHARE Cockatoo BMX Pumps Track ALMA TRELOAR BMX TRACK AND SKATE PARK DISCUSSION MAY 22ND ALAN BAILEY HALL COCKATOO PLEASE SEE EVENT FOR MORE DETAILS https://www.facebook.com/events/284554692480545/... DROP IN SESSION 3.30pm to 5.30pm allows people to come in and have a one on one discussion about what they would like to see, discuss what issues they have and become informed about the project. Anyone can come and have a discussion and go through the overall Masterplan. We have maps and plans showing overall intent of the project. WORKSHOP SESSION 6.00pm-8.00pm is more suited to users and is conducted in multiple tables of small groups. There will be a presentation and then any questions, design ideas which the groups work though together. At this workshop we have butchers paper and pens and people document ideas. At both sessions we will have surveys available for people to fill out and design boards for people to choose what kind of features or elements they would like to see in each facility. The earlier drop-in session is also to allow families with young children the opportunity to participate.

23.01.2022 Our latest message via local member Cr Brett Owen Cardinia Council, Hi Cr Owen, The Alma Treloar BMX and Skate design and construct tender recommendation is going up to Council on Monday 15th April. Following the appointment of the contractor it is anticipated that community consultation will commence in May. The requirement to engage with the community in the design process has been made quite clear in the brief and we are confident that the preferred tenderer will do a go...od job of this. 23.01.2022 How did this all begin? Local residents and Local Builder, Trevor and Kathy Phillips found there wasnt enough for young people to do, so they created the Cockatoo Community Discos and Easter egg hunts at Alma Treloar Reserve back in 2013, these events were a great success. They then started computer gaming events at the Cockatoo Community House and helped to kick off a Youth club at Alan Bailey Hall with council and local resident youth worker Narelle O Connor. Trevor and Ka...thy then designed a bmx track plan and alongside Adrian Dowell, they created the Cockatoo bmx track sub-committee at a Cockatoo Township committee meeting in Feb. 2014. Petitions, surveys, research and many meetings with council continued on and this helped to kick start the Skate and Bike strategy within the Cardinia shire. The council then looked at all skate and bmx facilities in the shire, a few years later Cockatoo was given top priority for a bmx track. The sub-committee also advocated for children to be allowed to ride their bikes to the local school, the 22 year no bike riding policy was changed to a yes to bike riding with parental consent, but has since been changed back to a no to bike riding, we still believe there has to be a solution such as a bike riding club with parents. Six years have since passed, endless emails and advocacy has been done by Kathy from the sub committee to help to make the Cockatoo BMX Pumps Track a reality. We are very proud to say its nearly coming to an end and we will finally be able to ride and walk the track in a couple of weeks. We hope the community far and wide enjoys what we set out to achieve for you all :) Its been a lot of hard work. We now hope that the community will take over from us and continue on and create a Bmx pumps track social club, perhaps alongside BMX Victoria and a Riding bikes to School club. We are looking forward to a fantastic Grand opening day and everyone is invited. 19.01.2022 UPDATE COCKATOO BMX PUMPS TRACK CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE We love that you're loving it. We want our kids out enjoying it. We do ask that in the interest of social distancing, you spend a limited amount of time there on any given day, say 30 minutes. If you have been there alone for a while and see someone else approaching who wants to ride, pack it up... Let others have a go.... And parents, please distance yourselves and your children from each other and other's children as best you can. Teens (love that you are all pumping there), please remember you are easily seen from Paky Rd. Have some fun but can you all please just space it out when resting up, not swap bikes or phones??? Please? Adhere to all government requirements so we can all get back to pumping around this awesome track together sooner. 13.01.2022 UPDATE The Cockatoo BMX Pumps Track Sub-Committee will be walking and riding the track today, before the pumps track is open to the public. The fences will be coming down late afternoon, we dont have an exact time yet. Please share your videos and any photos onto this page, once you have been to the track :) Its over to the community now to perhaps start a Bmx pumps & Bike riding to school clubs. We would like to thank the local council members, who have been behind this project since Feb 2014, also Kevin and Belinda from the Cardinia Shire Council and Craig from BMX Victoria Its fantastic to see the project that we started will now be definately going ahead and finished by around m...id year, 2019. Thank you to the community for your continued support, we would especially like to thank the people who spoke to us about Ash Wednesday and being promised a track many many years ago, we never forgot about this information and wanted to strive for something for you all, and now your children, to give you something that you could finally be proud of. 06.01.2022 Construction is underway at Cockatoo's Alma Treloar Reserve! A new BMX pump track and a major upgrade to the existing skate park is set to turn the reserve into... a district-level facility for all our shire to enjoy! Works on the pump track are expected to be completed in early March, which will be followed by the skate park's completion in early April (weather permitting). 05.01.2022 The Common Ground Trails team in Cockatoo VIC, has been busy working on their latest pump track project. The park is really starting to take shape! We are looking forward to seeing a few videos from the team next week of them test riding the track before asphalting. 01.01.2022 The Cockatoo BMX Pumps Track continues :) One of Common Ground Trails eastern states teams is currently working on the base shapes of their latest pump track build in Cockatoo. With optional lines and some very well positioned jumps, this pump track is sure to be one of their best yet!
