24.01.2022 During Asthma Week consider making a change... Take the opportunity to start kicking bad habits, such as smoking, to improve your asthma and overall health. Most people know smoking is not good for them but are unaware of the negative impact it can have on their asthma. If you have asthma and smoke it can make your asthma worse by:... - increasing asthma symptoms (feel worse, more often) - increasing the risk and frequency of asthma flare-ups - reducing the likelihood of achieving good asthma control - accelerating long term decline in lung function - reducing the effectiveness of preventer medications, (which can mean higher doses of preventer to receive the same benefits on asthma as non-smokers) You probably know that second-hand smoke is also bad for those around you and kids who are exposed to second-hand smoke have a higher likelihood of getting symptoms earlier in life and having more symptoms and asthma attacks. Additionally, they are more likely to use their asthma medications more often and for a longer period. Quitting smoking isn’t always easy. However, there are many effective treatment options available which you can discuss with your doctor, so take time now to make an appointment to discuss this further and take the first step towards making a positive change and living well with your asthma.

23.01.2022 Reaching out to our community to let you know that we're still available to give advice on all health matters, in a safe and easy way. You can talk to your usual GP about any health concerns (including those unrelated to COVID-19) via telephone or video call - some of these consultations will need to be bulk-billed, while others are billed just like normal face-to-face appointments. We're also continuing to provide in-person appointments, but with some small changes to ensure your ongoing safety & protection. Don't stay away - stay in touch and help us help you. Call now on 9418 3722 to arrange an appointment.

22.01.2022 2020 has been tough on so many of us, so we want to know, are you okay? If you’re not, please talk to someone - a friend, your partner, your doctor. Alternatively, hit up some online resources such as MindSpot or ThisWayUp or call Lifeline on 13 11 14.

20.01.2022 Asthma Week is a great time to have a chat - book in a time to speak with one of our doctors about your asthma. We are here to answer your asthma questions and provide support not only for people with asthma but also their carers, plus we're trained to help you with Australian best-practice asthma management and evidence-based information. Additionally, you can call 1800 ASTHMA (1800 278 462) to chat with an Asthma Educator and get back on track to living (and breathing) freely!
