23.01.2022 Hi everyone, In all seriousness, I am currently in Thailand and thought I’d share a little bit about my travel experience .... We took a Jetstar flight yesterday afternoon which was around 80% full ... some travellers chose to wear masks or gloves, many didn’t ... almost everyone was using hand sanitizer throughout the flight. When leaving Melbourne it was extremely quick clearing security and immigration ... passenger numbers are obviously down .... Security are no longe...r asking for laptops to be taken out either. On arrival in Thailand immigration staff were wearing masks and gloves .... As we drove through the streets on our way to Sunwing Kamala we could see that life is still carrying on .... Tourists are still travelling and people continue to live their lives as we do at home in Melbourne ... Our hotel is running at 60% capacity.... We are all ok and look forward to the week ahead. I have my laptop with me and continue to help clients planning to postpone or cancel their arrangements with those departing in March/ April impacted by travel restrictions the priority. Travel booked beyond April 2020 may not need to be altered or cancelled now. It is likely the situation will continue to change. Please note all suppliers are under extreme pressure answering enquiries. Many simply don’t have enough staff to deal with these turbulent times and the impact of the Europe/ USA travel restrictions. You’ll need to be patient as we are all working to assist everyone as fast as we can. If you know a travel agent or someone working in the travel industry, please be kind to them. It’s been a very tough few weeks. Astrid - Coconuts For Travel

21.01.2022 It’s been a little while since my last post, but I’m still here and plan to be here for a long while. Despite all the challenges thrown at the travel industry this year, I can’t imagine doing anything else. I love my job. This week was a great week. I received my first new booking request since March - yay! and closed off the first handful of files with all cancellations and refunds completed. ... Money is starting to trickle back in from suppliers and our state borders are starting to open up. Thank you to all my clients for being so patient and understanding. I’ll continue to make contact as refunds are processed each week. One of the major things I have learnt over the last few months is which suppliers offer superior, accessible customer service and flexible policies during a crisis and which do not. Never before, has the expertise of an experienced travel agent, been more essential. If you are ready for your next holiday, please register your interest now, so I can reach out when we are permitted to make your travel dream a reality.

16.01.2022 This is becoming more and more common and something to be aware of

13.01.2022 One of my favourite posts to share! Don’t forget to book early over long weekends and school holidays! We can book all the way to Sep/Oct 2020 NOW!

12.01.2022 This is a little bit exciting! With Qatar Airways introducing new services to Santorini and Dubrovnik, we'll now be able to reach these destinations with only one transit stop in Doha. Qatar Airways are already servicing Athens, Mykonos, Thessaloniki in Greece and Zagreb in Croatia.

07.01.2022 One final update from Thailand . I am very pleased to advise all Coconuts For Travel clients are now back on Australian soil or have commenced their onward journey home. My Thailand group and myself are due to fly home tomorrow 20Mar. We have friends and family helping us prepare for the two week quarantine period. A big thank you to everyone for being so patient whilst I have had to focus on clients impacted by the Level 4 travel restrictions. My next focus on my return ...home will be processing amendments for clients due to travel in March/ April 2020. Virgin have announced all international flights will be cancelled between 30Mar and 14Jun. Qantas and Jetstar have announced approximately 90% of international flights and 60% of domestic flights will be cancelled until the end of May20. The increase in travel restrictions also brings further unexpected challenges to the industry with many supplier call centres closing as foreign workers are forced to quarantine at home. It’s not unusual to sit on hold for up to four hours to make one simple change. My ticketing office now has in excess of 10,000 refunds waiting to be processed. Travel policies are also changing daily and it is taking a huge amount of time to read through the over complicated wording and try and explain the options available to clients. Please note after assessing March trips, I have learnt it is often better financially to move dates versus cancelling outright. Many suppliers are happy to waive or reduce amendment fees, whereas cancellation fees are still being charged for the majority of situations. Some insurance companies are covering the situation and some are not. Take care, and I’ll chat to those with forward bookings at the earliest opportunity. Astrid - Coconuts For Travel
