05.01.2022 Yin & Yang Fundamental to Chinese Medicine theory and philosophy. Incredibly complex and yet so simple. Yin & Yang are opposites ... Yin and yang is used to describe opposing qualities and relationships. For example, yin and yang exists at opposite ends of a cycle, such as a season. Winter is the most yin time of year, whilst summer is the most yang. The relationships are dynamic and relative to one another. Yin & Yang are interdependent This means that yin and yang can not exist without one another. They depend on each other for survival and when separated, life cannot exist. Yin & Yang are constantly transforming into one another Nothing can be completely yin or yang. They constantly transform into one another. Just as a state of total yin is reached, yang begins to grow. Yin contains the seed of yang and vise versa. For example, there is no day without night. Relative levels of Yin & Yang are continuously changing Normally this is a harmonious change, but when yin or yang are out of balance, they can transform into one another. This is where Chinese Medicine comes into the picture, with the ultimate aim to restore balance.
