18.01.2022 Our family is eternally grateful for the amazing health service available to us in Australia, especially when our daughter was born with a congenital heart defect. It is important to recognise however that there is a significant gap in this service and that gap needs to be closed - Congenital / childhood heart disease is more common among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people compared with non-Indigenous Australians, and Indigenous Australians are 2.6 times more likel...y to die from Congenital / childhood heart disease than other Australians (Leggat, 2011). #Repost @closethegapcampaign with @get_repost The 2019 CTG report highlights the positive impact of community controlled health organisations/projects such as Birthing on Country. As of November this year, we will no longer be manufacturing and selling our Cocooned adaptive clothing range. We'd like to take this opportunity to say a very heartfelt thank you. Thank you for coming on this journey with us and supporting us. It has been tremendously rewarding to be a part of your lives since we first started back in 2016. We’ve loved seeing your children grow and flou...rish. We will not be having a closing down sale. As of Monday November 9th, you will no longer be able to purchase our accessible clothing via our online store. So if you’d like to get your hands on these items before they’re gone forever, we suggest you head over to the shop. In true Cocooned spirit, we will be donating any remaining accessible clothing to children’s hospitals and support charities. We hope to continue to share stories and help other families via blog posts and social media. We also strongly believe that the big clothing brands can do better when it comes to accessibility and inclusivity. We will be advocating as to how they can design with children like ours in mind. After all accessible, means available for all. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts.
