20.01.2022 Parents and carers be aware of the distressing video currently circulating on social media. It will continue to be prevalent for a few more days so I urge you to quietly check in with your child - while being mindful not to unintentionally alert them to it. If your child has seen this video, I highly recommend you watch this video from Dr Justin Coulson's Happy Families. If your child, or you has seen the video and you want help, reach out to Kids Helpline Official 1800 551... 800, Headspace 1800 650 890 Lifeline 13 11 14 See more

13.01.2022 #Houseparty What is it all about plus #hackingwarning and how to delete your account. Houseparty is a group video app that has become extremely popular during the Covid19 pandemic due to its ability to allow people to video chat & play games like Quick Draw (which is like Pictionary) virtually. Houseparty enables us to socialise as a group, of up to 8 people, but online. It's easy to setup and use and you can quickly see why it's popular especially at the moment when our abi...lity to socialise in person is restricted. Like all online applications, it has the good bits and the bad - so if your family is using it you need to be vigilant about who can connect to them, as it's very easy for friends of friends to join a chat. Moderation in this app is non-existent as the videos are live. You can lock down the chat feature to those you have invited; but if you're invited into another chat you have no control of who else is there and what they say and do. Houseparty is rumoured to have been recently hacked, whether it's true or not is not clear BUT I would urge you to make sure that the password used here is strong and unique. If you want to delete the app, first delete your account before deleting the app. To do this click on the user icon in the top left corner of the screen and tap the Settings button. Click through to privacy and tap "delete account". #Code9Parent See more

05.01.2022 #MessengerKids This app has been around since 2017 and is launching in Australia tonight. It has a video chat and messaging function that is designed just for kids and it’s purpose is to enable your children to keep in touch with their friends and family safely and securely. Importantly this app has a parent dashboard that gives you visibility and control, while still have all the fun functionality that kids want, like sharing photos and having access to gifs, stickers, mas...ks, emojis and more. As always if your kids are going to be online and using any app it pays to get across it yourself, but at this stage it looks and sounds like a good option for kids to use to stay connected safely. Once launched (the app was not available on the App Store at the time this post was published) we’ll have a better idea of what you can and can’t do with it. https://messengerkids.com/
