21.01.2022 Huge shout out to our latest mentor - Matt Dunham! Matt is a Senior Consultant at FireEye, Inc. in Sydney on their Managed Defense team. He has 15 years of experience in IT, with the last 9 being focused on Security. Since joining FireEye, Matt has worked on countless incident response efforts for FireEyes clients in both an Incident Responder and Incident Handler capacity, reviewed Operational Technology (OT) deployments, and, regularly combats nation-state sponsored adversarys (APT) intrusion efforts into corporate and government systems. 20.01.2022 On Saturday, our Data Analytics short course students were lucky to hear from Anthony Tockar, Directer at Verge Labs. Verge Labs is a new type of AI company focused on the applied side of Machine Learning. Anthony is also the co-founder of the Minerva Collective, a not-for-profit focused on using data for social good. Anthony spoke about his career journey in data analytics, data science, and applied Machine Learning, plus gave our students advice on how to successfully embark into these exciting fields. With an MS in Analytics from the prestigious Northwestern University, and experience across insurance, tech, telecommunications, sport, and even neuroscience, Anthony had quite a lot of knowledge to share - and we're so glad our students could hear it firsthand. 06.01.2022 This week our bootcampers had the privilege of hearing from Ally Eastman and Josh Tregenza from Outfit discuss how front-end and back-end development work together. Outfit is a Brisbane-based company that automates the production of digital and print marketing materials with flexible, constraints-based templates. Ally is a Designer & Developer at Outfit, and has a background in web design with a focus on UX. In her role, she's been a strong advocate for ethical design. She's ...passionate about mentoring and co-organises Django Girls Brisbane annually, as well as mentoring at many other local events focused on helping women thrive in the tech industry. In her spare time, she loves weight lifting and spending time with her two cats. Josh is the Delivery Lead at Outfit, where he bolsters the team's skills and culture. A self-described "resident cowboy", he works with clients to scale their brands into the paradigm of the Outfit system. Big thank you to Ally & Josh for inspiring our budding developers!
