21.01.2022 And here it is Now there was some editing to go with it I am not sure if it has worked or not but enjoy anyway! https://talesoflinedrive.wordpress.com/

19.01.2022 Cods Day3: Game 1: Cods 35’s v Redsox. After a busy night celebrating yesterday’s win the 35’s were up early for an 8am game. Cods batted first and only managed to score 1 run. Redsox pitcher Owen Godenzi struggled early with a number of batters being walked. Cods pitcher Cam Rogers started well and only allowed 1 run to score for the Sox in the first dig. Cods rallied in the second putting on 5 runs with 6 of the 9 batters reaching base safely. Sox were then shut down witho...ut scoring a run. Cods continued to bat well in the 3rd adding another 3 runs. Sox finally settled and started to hit. A couple of errors from Cods also contributing to the 7 run innings for Sox. 4th and final innings and with a pitching change from Sox, the Cods couldn’t manage a runner on base going 3 up 3 down. A change if pitcher for Cods saw Aaron Holloway take the mound. With some good pitching and backed up by the team they managed to shut down the Sox again without scoring. A great game to watch with the Cods coming out victors 9 runs to 8. Best for Cods. 2 hits each to Pool, Barker & Whitman. Singles to Shennan, Anders & Cam Rogers. That’s a wrap for the 35’s this year with an impressive tally of 3 wins from 4 games. Well done lads. The 45’s are yet to play today with a double header against the top sides. These will both be tough games. GO CODS !!! See more

15.01.2022 Cod season is upon us. Spread the word

14.01.2022 Cods Day3: Game 2: Cods 45's V Pandas. This was always going to be one tuff tussle as we battled it out with the top team of the weekend. We batted first and got off to a shaky start when lead off Tetsu Kamiyama was struck out at the plate. Ash Myers hit a single then Tony Smith had a fly ball to centre for the second out. Rian Banks had a nice double bringing in our first run for the game. Rob Seymour had a nice single before the next batter was struck out. James Rogers to...ok to the mound in this game and did a great job for the Cods, however the superior batters of the Pandas still managed to bring in 4 runs. The second innings was similar to the first with 4 safe hits and a walk scoring another run before the third out.. Pandas wre held to only 1 run in the second with most of their outs coming from outfield flyballs. Cods couldn't manage any further runs for the game. Pandas brought in 5 more in the last innings to take victory from the Cods. Final Score Pandas 10 D Cods 2. Game 3: Cods 45's V Cheltenham Rebels. The second of a double header against the 2nd top side of the comp had the Cods struggling once again. We started strong putting on 4 runs, thanks mainly to some good batting and a number of walks. However much of the remainder of the game was put outs from fly balls and weak infield ground balls. Rebels responded in the first with 7 runs. Whilst there were some great outfield hits from their team a lot of the runners made it on base due to errors from the now hot and tired Cods team. Rian Banks pitched a solid game and the team managed to keep Rebels scoreless for the 2nd and 3rd innings. In the last inning the Cods gave it on last effort with a walk to Ash Meyers, a single to Rob Seymour & Tony Smith before a sacrifice fly from Tetsu brought in one more run. Rebels responded with a further 3 runs to take out the win. Cheltenham Rebels 10 D Cods 5.

10.01.2022 2019 Masters Comp has started. With barely enough numbers to make up sides we have done battle today with mixed results. Firstly let me introduce our new players. Sean Whiteman,Luke Painter, Aaron Holloway,Matt Shennan & Peter Rogers welcome to the Cods team. For those that couldn't make the trip away this year due to other committments, be warned you will need to work hard to regain your spot next year. On to today's games. Day 1. Game 1. Cods 35's v Doncaster. A great gam...e with the Cods scoring early with a single to Cam Rogers who was brought home 2 batters letter thanks to a nice double by Damon Barker. The score remained the same until the 4th inning when another run was scored. The team hit it's straps in the last with almost the entire team having safe hit and scoring a further 4 runs. Defensively the day goes to Heath Anders who pitched 4 great innings striking out 5 batters and keeping the Doncaster team scoreless.Aaron Holloway finished off the pitching duties with some great pitching also not allowing Doncaster to score. Some great plays from the remainder of the team contributing to the 6 - 0 win. Game 2. Cods 35's v Pandas. Outclassed by a superior team, Cods started well scoring a run in the second innings to lead 2 - nil. The Pandas fired up in the 3rd scoring 4 runs and shutting out the Cods who were hitting well but couldn't find the gaps. Pandas scored another 7 runs in the 4th inning and once again shutting down the Cods. Cods managed to rally in the last and score another run. Time ran out with an incomplete batting innings for the Pandas. With scores reverting back to the previous innings Pandas took the accolades with a 11 - 1 win. Defensively the team played well with few errors, however they couldn't overcome the Pandas who hit the gaps perfectly. Game 3. Cods 45's v Tomatos. A great tussle between the 2 teams with a score line that really didn't indicate the quality of the game. Cods were slow to start and never really found form with the bat. Defensively the team performed well. Ash Meyers pitched 4 solid innings with Tomatos scoring 2 runs in the second and another 3 in the 4th innings. Testsu Kamiyama came in to pitch in the 5th and only allowed 1 more run for the Tomatos. Hits for the Cods go to Brendan French, Rob Seymour & Tony Smith. Games tomorrow see the 45's take on Diggers in the first game of the day at 8am. An early start for the team indeed. Just hope they are all fit and up for it. The 35's have a little more time to prepare for their game, which is due to start at 4:45pm against the Rebels team. Mixed results today, but no disgrace for either team. Well done guys. Keep up the good work. GO CODS !!!! See more

07.01.2022 Hello all you Cods, Cod followers and all round fans of Cods. Today marks the official start of the 2020 Cod season. I know all you Codsters out there are keenly looking for the big fish to rise up from the bottom of the murky river. Now is the season for that to happen. It has been pretty quiet in the closed season but already those in the know are turning their attention to the new year and the Masters in Ballarat where the Cods move out of their natural north eastern envir...onment. Cods are looking for a creative Cod (or individual) to create some rocking new Cod merchandise for 2020. If you feel you can help out please drop us a line. On other matters for those wanting to buy their own authentic Cod playing shirt, orders are now being taken. Big Cod Nathan Pool is happy to order shirts for those who want their own. Let him know your size, playing number and name you want on the back. Doesn’t matter if we double up on numbers or if the names are different - it is cods !! be creative Shirts will Most likely be around $65 (maybe couple with a new rocking stubby holder too for a little bit extra!) In Cods we trust.

07.01.2022 We may be older but we always have an eye on the future. Let's continue to grow! https://www.facebook.com/NorthEasternBaseballAssoc/

05.01.2022 EVENING CODS. I know it’s not COD season until another 11 days but as you are all aware it is only 4 months until Ballarat and with all reports suggesting the biggest one yet. We will be looking to field both a 35s and a 45s again, but we need all interested to post below. The weekend is March 15th - 17th 2019. Cost will be confirmed after numbers are confirmed and accomodation locked in. Some of us CODS discussed more playing jerseys for next year, please add to your post if you would be interested in buying a jersey, possibly with your name or nickname on the back and a preferred number. Stay tuned for future announcement regarding the prestigious PUFFERFISH award

04.01.2022 Cods recap from afar and a few other things Ranger related too. Hope you enjoy it https://talesoflinedrive.wordpress.com//rounding-third-by/

04.01.2022 These Cods 300 games.

03.01.2022 Cods Day 2. Game1. Cods 45's v Diggers. Early starts are not conducive to good results. With James Rogers setting out from Wangaratta at 4am and brother Peter leaving Melbourne at a ridiculously similar time to make it for an 8am game start, we were going to have tired players to start with. Brendon French on the mound started strong not allowing the Diggers to score. Cods found form with the bat early in the game to score 5 runs in the first dig, but Diggers responded in... the 2nd to score 7 and shut out the Cods. Fielding errors crept in with dropped catches and fumbled balls allowing Diggers to put on another 5 runs in the 3rd innings. Cods responded with 5 more thanks to some excellent batting that included a nice double by Tetsu Kamiyama. Changes in the Cods pitching with Rob Seymour taking the mound had little effect in stemming the Diggers run rate as they consistently hit the ball. Rian Banks closed out and only allowed 1 further run to cross the plate. Trailing by 4 runs with one last chance and time fast running out the team had to rally. First at bat Mark Farrow popped up to centre field for the first out. Rob Seymour hit a nice double to give the team some hope. Tony Smith grounded out to shortstop for the teams 2nd out. Ash Myers hit safely to right field to allow Rob to score. Banksy came up to bat but also grounded out for the final out. Final score being Diggers 14 D Cods 11. A game that Cods should have won, but wasn't to be. Some fines coming for errors at tonight's team meeting I suspect. With the next game today being for the 35's team at 4:45pm the teams have some free time to bond and prepare. More on that game later. GO CODS !!! See more

02.01.2022 Cods Day 2. Game 2: Cods 35's v Rebels. Run fest best describes this game with all Cods team members scoring safe hits for the day. Nathan Pool started on the mound pitching brilliantly striking out 3 batters and not giving up any runs until the 3rd innings. Cods batters on the other hand started from the get go and scored 4 runs in the first dig with a single to Jono Rogers, a double to Nathan Pool and a triple to Cam Rogers. Cods put on another run in the second to hold a c...omfortable lead. It wasn't until the 3rd innings when the Cods let down their guard a little that Rebels managed to score 3 runs. Cods came back with 2 more runs in the 3rd and another 1 in the 5th to have a commanding lead. Nathan was replaced in the pitching duties by Heath Anders who prevented the Rebels from scoring any further runs. It was in the final innings that the Cods team run away with the game scoring a further 6 runs to take out the win. Cods 14 D Rebels 3. Best batters for Cods were Jono Rogers & Nathan with 3 hits each. Damon Barker, Matt Shennan & Cam Rogers each having 2 hits. Shaun Whiteman, Heath Anders & Aaron Holloway each having singles. Last of the games tomorrow will have Cods 35's playing the early 8am game against the Redsox, whilst the weary 45's have a double header wth the first game at 11:30 against Pandas, followed 15mins later with a game against Cheltenham. The games tally for the weekend being Cods 35's winning 2 from 3 games. The 45's haven't had any luck going Nil from 2 games. GO CODS!!! See more

02.01.2022 Foot wear for the rookies ??

01.01.2022 Well that's a wrap for Masters Baseball for season 2019. The final game tallies being Cods 35's having 3 wins from 4 games. The Cods 45's were nowhere as fortunate with no wins from the 4 games. However there is no disgrace in the results from either team, considering that there were 4 or 5 new players added to the teams this year. Unavailable players this year also meant that the teams only had 9 players at any given time to play all 4 games for the weekend. None of them ...getting rested at all. To all the players for this year, well done lads. I has been an epic weekend with the Rookies enjoying the team spirit and camaraderie of the other seasoned team members. There have been some great and memorable moments this weekend both on and off field. Thanks must go once again to Nathan Pool for organising much of the weekend including our accomadation. Thanks also to Rob Seymour for helping to manage the teams. To all those that scored games when they could have been watching their team mates play, a big thank you also. To the supporters and families that made the trip all the way to Ballarat thank you for your support. For those that couldn't make it to Masters this year. Your position in the team still awaits you. Just get organised and book your spot for this time next year. GO CODS !!!!
