25.01.2022 Something very different but fun, we have had the chance to build up a Hyundai Excel due to the lack of racing in Formula Ford in the extended Covid-19 Period which we built it in a 6 week time frame. I had the chance to race it for the first time on the weekend! Both races were a 1 hour Enduro. In a 30 car field I Qualified 7th for race one and after plenty of panel rubbing I made my way up to a comfortable 4th position for the finish... Qualifying for race 2 I was 9th and after the Top 10 shootout I moved up to 7th to start race 2. We made some decent size changes to the car for Race 2. We came into the pits 4th for the mandatory 3min stop but had some radio issues whilst leaving pit lane costing us 10 seconds in the fast lane, I was still able to close the gap to 2nd from 7 seconds to 1.9 after the pitstop finishing in 3rd! Completely different experience than what I am use to, but it’s not every day you get the chance to say you raced a car which we built together which went flawless all weekend. We didn't have any issues even though the car wasn’t finished until Thursday night! Huge Thanks to dad. Can build a car!
13.01.2022 P1 in race 1 today NSW State Round at Wakefield. Lead from start to finish after a disappointing qualifying. Still have a job to do tomorrow and goals are the same, will keep on pushing!
09.01.2022 Was good to get back in seat again after 14 months in the Formula Ford! Qualified on Pole and following it up with a race Win in Race 1 with the fastest lap! Race 2 I got a bad start falling back to 2nd but chased the leader down 2 seconds to finish 2 tenths behind. ... Race 3 whilst battling for the lead I made a silly mistake at turn 1 running wide and finishing 2nd. Disappointing finish considering the pace we had. With the fastest lap in all 3 races and making up almost 3 seconds in 4 laps after the turn 1 off. Still happy with the first 2 sessions making huge gains since the last time we raced SMSP. Positives are we are heading in the right direction. Still have a few things to work on and get rid of the mistakes! 05.01.2022 Not an ideal finish today, had unfortunate contact in race 2 whilst battling for the lead resulting in bent steering & finishing 4th before a further relegation to 10th after the race. Made good ground in race 3 after starting 10th and avoiding a spinning car off the start finishing 3rd with the fastest lap. Just missed the setup window for race 3 finishing 3rd for the round. Disappointing considering our pace but we will live and learn and come back stronger next time! ...
