Blow the forth off a couple cold ones tonight, treat yourself to a nightcap and then tomorrow morning let yours truly worry about breakfast and coffee. Or if you're older than 30 like us, have a hot chocolate, get into bed by 8:30, wake up with a sore back and sinus issues and still make your way down for 7 cups of coffee and a pat on the back to let you know everythings gonna be alright. 07.01.2022 Hello friends For those of you who read my piece a week or two ago about the beginnings of my hospitality career well here is part 2. Keys to 30:... I have always had an ambition to own my own business. When I was 14 it was to own my own cinema, then that goal grew into owning my own bar, and once again that goal grew from owning a bar to owning a cafe. I had a timeline in place that I had to own the cafe before 25 or I’d head to uni and study something. By 24 I signed the lease to CREAM and the rest is history. Once I opened CREAM and ticked that goal off my list I set a new target of opening 5 venues before 30 and days before my third decade, my old man and I signed a lease for an entire laneway in the city. The laneway will allow me to open up three seperate venues operating as one giant machine, the biggest undertaking I’ve tried to pull off yet. I am super excited, mildly nervous, and extremely grateful to have this opportunity - which would not be possible without the work from many important people close to me. But the moral of this post is sometimes the goal posts move, but that doesn’t mean you should give up on your ambitions. Did I open the venues before I was 30? No, but I signed the lease. Will it be a total of 5 venues? No, but 4 is pretty damn close. Goals are exactly that, they’re goals! They’re not the be all and end all, sometimes we get close enough and sometimes that’s good enough. Enjoy all the victories you have, learn from the mistakes, and keep on grinding on. I will share more with you all as time goes on but for now, thank you! 03.01.2022 NEW MENU RELEASED Hello mates, CREAM since day one has had inclusiveness at the core of our ethos which developed into our extremely wide demographic that we get into the cafe today. It’s something that we dearly love and take pride in - especially when we see our community elders bopping their head to some Wu-Tang or NWA ... To tie into that, we believe the importance of food in our lives cannot be overstated. Food is the bridge between other cultures and diversities, it tells us a story without using words, and has the ability to bring people together like nothing else. All those family dramas at Christmas time? Gone when the food comes out. While we’ve always had vegan options on our menu I felt it about time to broaden the range and pay veganism more respect, but at the same time make sure not to dilute what we’ve become known for. As a meat eating foodie (who absolutely loves food) with plenty of vegan friends, I’ve always been irritated by the conundrum of a group of people having to decide where to go based on dietary requirements, and so often someone has to compromise. It’s either the vegan eating menu sides or a thrown together dish, or the non-vegans eating faux meat or nothing at all out of stubbornness. With our new menu I wanted to create something where regardless of your groups dietary requirements, you can all enjoy yourself 100% and feel that feeling of being satisfied in your dining experience. The meat eater can have their Hotcake Stack w Fried Chicken and the vegan can enjoy a Shakshuka w Battered Eggplant and Cashew Curd in pure harmony. I don’t think I’ve ever broken down and announced a menu like this, but I just wanted y’all to know the psychology that went into creating this. This will be the biggest menu change CREAM will have seen since opening but don't worry, the classics won't be going anywhere. ... I don't have time to take on a full junior but can help an intimidate take the next step.... - Experience on a Synesso preferred but not essential. - Knowledge of the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the wise (not essential). - Weekend availability a must. - Ability to get a ping pong ball into a red cup (essential for staff parties post covid). - A strong work ethic. If you know CREAM you'll know we're often run off our feet and need that hustle on weekends! - A decent selection of memes in your camera roll that you've shamelessly stolen from comment sections on Facebook. - Ability to make 6:30am starts. 20-30hrs available with more to come.
