25.01.2022 Coffin Bay Jetty- early 1960s (Hurrell Family Collection) This is from a set of photos given to Morrie & Jessie Hurrell by Department of Marine & Harbours. Jessie dispensed fuel to fishing boats from the CB jetty for many years. Morrie Hurrell plus 3 of his sons (Brian, Phil & Graham) built the original jetty in the late 1950s, then called, Hurrells Slip, as it also incorporated the slipway alongside. Jessie also listened to the local Sked operated by the legendary Kevin Hirschausen of Port Lincoln. She was able to ascertain the fishermens needs before their arrival (fuel & supplies) & pass on messages to local families.
