25.01.2022 Coffin Bay Yacht Club needs volunteers for the bar and kitchen! If you have a few hours spare once a month to help our family friendly community club run smoothly, we would love to hear from you. Positions include food prep, dish washing, serving food, till, cooking or bar staff. Come and join in with a fun bunch of fellow volunteers, and you'll also receive a free meal and drinks to show our appreciation.... 25.01.2022 SUNDAY SAILING After some brisk open water sailing at Arno Bay last weekend, the 125s, Carnivore, Pirates of Coffin Bay and Squabble joined Play Station and our two Herons, Fat Gutz and Money Muncher, back on the bay this Sunday.... Ideal sailing conditions prevailed with an incoming tide and persistent easterly ensuring a thrilling beat down to the first mark followed by good competition between the crews throughout the afternoon. Our juniors were out in Optis in the morning to set the scene for the day. Well done kids.!!

24.01.2022 JUNIOR SAILING Tipping lessons were the order of the day this morning with instructors Hendo and Tim taking advantage of the beautiful calm bay waters. Our little recruits smashed it ....who wouldnt with a cool dip as part of the exercise!!!!!!. Packing up the boats and a lollipop each made the morning complete. Well done everyone.

24.01.2022 IT WAS ALL HANDS ON DECK for the long haul on Sunday. The annual MARATHON saw the Herons and 125's test themselves against a brisk Southwesterly as they headed down the channel to the heads cutting through the white caps at pace. Stage two in Kelledie Bay continued the challenge with billowing spinnakers and tight jibs keeping the crews on their toes. Great racing and great fun against the wind!!...

18.01.2022 Sailing Season has begun at Coffins with a busy day at the Yachty on Sunday. Sail training in the morning followed by the Covid 19 shortened 2019 / 20 season sailing awards. Congrats to everyone including our amazing band of junior sailors and special congrats to Daryl King who took out Sailor of the Year. With the season officially opened by Peter Treloar, the yachts prepared for the days race.... OH....NO WIND!!!! The struggle to get to the line was on. Paddling with hands and feet .......unusual manouvrings ........limp sails but all topped by Dougie in his home made single sail beauty who simply started rowing. The bay was however pure magic as were the reflections of struggling yachts!!!!. FINALLY a puff of breeze and they were off to successfully complete a shortened course. A well earned coldy and lots of laughs back at the club completed a great day. We also welcomed the Clayton Bay Boat Club who arrived at the jetty for a week of enjoyment on our waters plus the many visiting diners enjoying the view across our bay. WHAT A GREAT DAY !!.

16.01.2022 What a fantastic morning on the bay for our young trainees on Sunday with three progressing to sailing solo and all enjoying the fun AND of course the end of training lollipop. The afternoons sailing was set on the bay once again with three 125s and two Herons on the water. Our newest crew Braddy and Skye did a masterful job in Phat Gutz ...despite tipping over....but so did two 125s !!!! Just cant trust those freaky wind gusts in Coffin...s. !!!!!! Next Sunday afternoon we sail in Kelledie so watch out for those billowing spinnakers!!! Sail training at the Yachty beach from 9am.

The days sailing is now done, bars open for that refreshing drink and meals start at six. Come down and join us...alfresco or indoors the bay is just looking amazing.

13.01.2022 SAILING PRESENTATION DAY Awards for the 2019/20 sailing season were presented recently paving the way for the commencement of the new season.... Achievement medallions were awarded to all of our juniors who were part of the Learn to Sail Programme . Thanks to Hendo, Tim and Monica who have all committed a huge amount of time to this programme in our bay. The Learn to Sail Programme continues this season on Sunday mornings. Anyone is welcome to join in and learn the ropes. The highlight of the presentations saw club stalwart and Heron skipper Daryl King take out the well deserved award of "Sailor of The Year". Congratulations Daryl and well done. We look forward to great sailing in the 2020/21 season. WATCH US ON THE WATER OR COME AND JOIN IN. Everyone is welcome!!!

09.01.2022 SUNDAY SAILING IN KELLEDIE BAY Well just getting started on Sunday was the biggest challenge. Kelledie seemed a long way off from the beach.... calm waters prevailed... until finally an easterly puffed in. ... Three 125s and two Herons crossed the start line and ultimately completed two races for the day. A light breeze held up to get us all home with only one 125 needing a bit of assistance!!! A coldy at the bar to wrap up the day was very welcome !!

We wish to assure you all that the club will be continuing to operate as normally as is practical in the current environment. We will be adhering to government directives for clubs and putting stringent sanitary practice into place. We are acting on advice from Clubs SA, Yachting SA and the Dpt. Of Sport and Recreation, and will continue to monitor this re any future changes.... MEANWHILE ....... Junior and Senior club sailing will continue on for the remainder of the Season. We will be open for meals as usual. You may notice some minor changes but this need not disrupt your enjoyment of your time at the club. We look forward to your continued support.
