01.01.2022 NEW LOCATIONS ADDED - 21/08/19 We hate that we have to write this post, but unfortunately the numbers are growing and the affected areas are spreading. Plea...se help spread the word UPDATE Brisbane City council has reported more then 40 deaths of animals due to poisonings, please be vigilant. Not just parks but beaches and streets near Bush land . DOG BAITING ALERT MORNINGSIDE ASHGROVE CARINA GRANGE MORETON BAY ARANA HILLS REDLAND CITY HAWTHORNE NEWSTEAD NEW FARM RUNCORN WATERFORD WEST THE SPIT, GOLD COAST ROBINA BARDON There are so many different ways which dog baiting is occurring across QLD, but the 4 most common are: Meat Chunks/Mince Cheese Tennis Balls Toys which can secretly contain dangerous poisons/liquids/foods. The best way to check before entering your local dog park: Take a minute or 2 to check your dog park before allowing your dog inside (You could secure them in the "in-between" gated area prior to letting them off-leash). Look for food or treats in the ground which 'don't make sense' especially if your dog stays in one area, licking/sniffing the ground Do not let your dog take treats or toys from a stranger Do not let your dog pick up random toys/balls found at the park Do not leave any toys, treats or belongs behind Tell all your friends about this issue Report any suspicious persons or activities to the local authorities. Signs to look out for if you think your dog has suffered poisoning: (Take your dog to the vet immediately - Better to be safe, than sorry): Excessive or unusual drooling Shaking Vomiting Difficulty Breathing/coughing Excessive Drinking Diarrhoea Seizures Blood in the stool Lethargy Loss of appetite Bruising Nosebleeds Irregular heartbeat Inability to urinate We love all creatures great and small, so please share this message with everyone you know!!
