23.01.2022 Back by popular demand...Our CHLC boys have been working with Brendan and we have 2 more tables to show off. Jack and David have been working hard and it shows. These tables are made from recycled timber and the results are amazing. Clearly one man's trash is another man's treasure. Well done boys and thanks again to Brendan for sharing his expertise with our students.
23.01.2022 Recently students and staff were invited to visit a couple of building sites with Yarren and Erin from Stroud Homes. Students met plumbers, carpenters and electricians who each discussed their trade with the students. This was a great opportunity to get some insight into the building industry and we would like to thank everyone involved in making our careers excursion such a success.
19.01.2022 CHLC are committed to ensuring our school culture is one where diversity and difference are appreciated and valued. With this in mind we have appointed a new ARCO - Anti Racism Contact Officer. Kate Young is extremely passionate about her new role and asks the school community to contact her with any incidences of racism they may wish to discuss. Kate can be contacted on 66531855.
17.01.2022 Over the last month Jasper has been working with Brendan to construct a table. They used recycled pallets and recycled hardwood to create this excellent example of up-cycled furniture. Jasper was extremely proud of his efforts and said, "It's the best thing I've ever made". Brendan will be working with a number of students in the coming weeks so hopefully we will see a lot more furniture from CHLC. Well done guys!
16.01.2022 Over the last 4 weeks a group of students from CHLC visited Open Studio in Coffs Harbour to try their hand at Street Graphics. The staff and students were given a brief history of graffiti art and introduced to some different techniques. Everyone was then able to create their own canvas showcasing some of the skills they learnt. We would like to thank Ash for sharing his time and knowledge with us.
10.01.2022 Tomorrow our staff and students will be celebrating NAIDOC week. Our activities for the day will involve travelling to Red Rock for paddle boarding and cultural activities with the Bularri Muurlay Nyanggan Aboriginal Corporation. A BBQ lunch and visit to Yarrawarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre will conclude our day. Students will need swimmers, a towel, hat, sunscreen and a plastic bag for wet clothes. CHLC acknowledges our students varied Aboriginal and cultural background and prides itself in our education and support of our students.
07.01.2022 We have been extremely busy here at CHLC and unfortunately Facebook has been a bit neglected so here are a whole heap of assembly pics to make up for it :)
