22.01.2022 During school holiday visits we were delighted to see how different school aged children were using the potion kits the educators received for Christmas. At Meng Mengs and Hlawn’s the children were using herbs to make different potions and perfumes in spray bottles. Tha Pum's children added coloured playdough from Kmart to make different 3D pictures.
19.01.2022 Its R U OK?Day, a reminder that every day is a day to start a conversation that could change a life. Today were calling on Australians to learn what to say af...ter R U OK? so they can keep the conversation going when someone says theyre not OK. Theres more to say after R U OK? Learn what to say when listening with an open mind Learn what to say when encouraging action Learn what to say when checking in Learn how to continue a conversation that could change a life. When we know what to say next we can help someone open up and find pathways to support long before theyre in crisis. 08.01.2022 As part of Reconciliation Week Educator Kylie Ford played a traditional game of Koolchee. Children made balls from clay, mud, sandstone and rolled them towards each other with the aim of breaking the balls to win. We played Cooperative Koolchee using 1 litre bottles with a little dirt for weight and used large tennis balls to roll into the pins to knock them over.

04.01.2022 Happy Halloween!! This week, our educators and children have been getting into the spirit of Halloween celebrations, by dressing up as different characters and engaging in some spooky sensory explorations and art and craft. Great connections to the wider community were also made, with one educator joining in with their American family and their Halloween traditions via video. Traditions of the celebration in different countries were also shared with children in stories and discussion. Here are a few of our educators and children's celebrations....
04.01.2022 On the 27th of May, 1967 Australia said yes. A yes towards reconciliation. A yes towards equality. A yes to change the Australian Constitution to allow the Comm...onwealth to make laws for Aboriginal people and include them in the census. This date, the 27th of May, also marks the start National Reconciliation Week annually. The week concludes on June 3, which also coincides with the date in which the Mabo decision was made in the High Court (3 June 1992). Please note explicit language in the link to first contact video. 04.01.2022 eSafety is aware of distressing reports about a suicide video circulating on social media. Weve contacted the social media platforms and are working together t...o monitor the situation. Please follow our advice below. * If you see this video online report it to the social media platform its on, or to eSafety at www.esafety.gov.au/report/illegal-harmful-content. * We encourage parents, carers and educators to avoid raising the issue of the video directly with young people who may not have heard or been exposed to it. Instead, we encourage proactive conversations with children about distressing content they may come across online, letting them know they can come to you or another trusted adult if they feel upset or uncomfortable by it. * Monitor young people who are more vulnerable and at-risk. If a young person is presenting with signs of distress, schools should follow their own procedures for managing and supporting students at risk. * If a life is in danger call Triple Zero (000) right now. * Anyone who may be at risk or experiencing emotional distress, including worried family and friends, to contact one of the following services: Kids Helpline Official 1800 55 1800. https://kidshelpline.com.au/ Suicide Call Back Service 1300 659 467. https://www.suicidecallbackservice.org.au/ headspace 1800 650 890. https://headspace.org.au/ Lifeline 13 11 14. https://www.lifeline.org.au/ Beyond Blue 1300 22 4636. https://www.beyondblue.org.au/

02.01.2022 Nature explorations and authentic experiences are highly valued at Jodi Murdochs Family Day Care Service. The children this week enjoyed working together to build a fire to cook their lunch and then enjoyed an outdoor dining experience. They also observed patterns in nature and then expressed their representations and imagination through art. Jodies service is fortunate to offer a natural landscape to explore and the children are often found engaging in fishing experiences, closely examining creatures and habitats and challenging their fine and gross motor abilities through a range of risky play experiences that the natural play environment offers and through Jodis guidance.
