25.01.2022 This Sunday was meant to be the Bendigo Bank Coffs Harbour Running Festival but unfortunately that was cancelled due to covid A group is going to be running the courses anyways (socially distance of course!). Kicking off from 7am Sunday from Salute Cafe (by the jetty) come join in a either 5km, 10km or 21km around Coffs Creek. Choose to run it as a social chat/jog or go at race pace if you wish

25.01.2022 OK, so we have all listened to the Run Director on a Saturday morning go through the parkrun race briefing. These instructions are vital to having a safe event but I figure we could mix them up for a few weeks, maybe we can call them parkrun destructions. So, normally you are advised that "children under 11 must be kept within arms reach of an adult"... Destruction #1: But the new destruction should be "children under 11 must be..." Look forward to your responses...

24.01.2022 Well, once upon a time, we would be trying to think up something clever to say on Parkrun day eve, but you will have to wait some more. It's not quite us yet, but we might be getting closer to a return to parkrun. However, it would be safe to say that it is not going happen before Qld goes back. We'll keep you posted in the coming weeks. Stay safe, don't forget even without Parkrun, it is still Friday!... Enjoy your weekend!!!

22.01.2022 Another week is gone and another Parkrun4one tomorrow. To make it a bit more interesting, this week, you need to complete your parkrun4one carrying something. You could carry you wife, or husband; you could carry a beer, or a case; you could carry a glass of wine, or bottle; you could carry a coffee, or 2; whatever you decide, Ill leave it up to you. Make sure you post a picture tomorrow of your efforts.... As previously, the rules are simple - exercise for 31 minutes on Saturday by yourself (or with your immediate family). Preferably the exercise is within the confines of your property (just to make it a bit more challenging!). Why 31 minutes? - thats the average time that it takes for people to complete Coffs Parkrun, so if you do 31 minutes of exercise, we figure that you have done your parkrun for Saturday. Just to clarify, you dont have to try to complete 5km in 31 minutes!! As a community we cannot do parkrun together but we CAN share our results; we CAN encourage others and we CAN still have plenty of fun as a community. We look forward to seeing how youve helped carry parkrun4one into another week!

16.01.2022 Yesterday, Coffs Parkrun regular Adam was spotted running from Red Rock to Coffs Harbour. The run covers approximately 44kms of our beautiful coastline, with spectacular views along the way. It is also 44km of (mostly) soft sand, so is certainly not for everyone! We are excited to see that Adam has been working on improving his leap (photo provided for comparison), and could even pull one off at the almost halfway mark in the blazing sun! Good on you Adam! We hope you can still walk today, and can’t wait to be back at Parkrun with you in the future.

16.01.2022 Time for a laugh!

15.01.2022 The latest update on parkrun... In summary, parkrun Australia is awaiting a response from the NSW health minister. Queensland goes back this weekend and south Australia will go back next week.... Enjoy your weekend!

13.01.2022 parkrun Coffs 02/01/2021

13.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Some very exciting new has come through overnight that parkrun can recommence in NSW from 19 December. Coffs parkrun will need special permission from Coffs Council to do so and also gain a renewed occupancy permit - this is likely to take a few weeks to come through. At this stage we will be hoping to be back up and running in Coffs on 2 January but unlikely before then. We will keep you posted on how we are progressing and hopefully see you all again soon...

10.01.2022 As you are all aware, this Saturday is ANZAC Day. I initially felt that it would be best to move Parkrun4one to Sunday but I then read a few articles about the ANZAC spirit and one common theme was mateship. For many, the Saturday Parkrun is about connecting with others, connecting with your mates.... So this Saturday (or Sunday if you would prefer), I encourage you to do your Parkrun4one. As an additional task, I ask you to think about your mates. It might be a mate that has passed away; it might be one that you havent seen in these crazy times; it might be someone youve drifted away from. Remember them, get in touch with them (the phone works!) and connect.

10.01.2022 Thanks to Sports Photography on the Coffs Coast for these pics from today. Amy will post the 'official pics' later on today or tomorrow. For more pics of local sporting activites, check out their FB page: https://www.facebook.com/Sportseventscc/posts/175548710984680?

10.01.2022 For those who are interested in knowing what is happening with our parkrun, have a read of the latest update from parkrun Australia. We look forward to a reply from the NSW health minister and then we can start planning the next step.

08.01.2022 Hi all, only 3 more sleeps until parkrun...

08.01.2022 9 January 2021, Coffs Harbour event #142 This morning we were treated to occasional cool light rain, wonderful smiling faces, and an assortment of very cute canines! 133 people walked and ran the Coffs Harbour course, and we had a full roster of volunteers too. Thanks to Dave for being our Run Director, and to Adam, Savannah, Keelan, Annabelle, Barbara, Graham, Heather, Peter and Amy for helping to make Parkrun happen. An additional thanks goes to David Wigley from Sports Photography on the Coffs Coast for taking some amazing photos too!

08.01.2022 Hi All, Exciting news - we have all our ducks in a row and I can now confirm that parkrun Coffs Harbour will restart on 02 January 2021. If you would like to volunteer please let us know and we will add you to the roster. Please include your parkrun ID number and preferred volley position as well as date you would like to volunteer.... If you would like to become a Run Director please let us know, we will be looking for at least 2 more RDs moving forward. Please read all parkrun fliers on the FB page and familiarise yourself with COVID-19 guidelines from NSW Health. Looking forward to seeing all your faces again soon...

08.01.2022 Hi All, It was so good to be back last Saturday, can't wait to do it all again this weekend. We have a few places to fill on the volunteer roster this week and plenty blank spaces in the coming weeks. If you would like to volunteer please let us know. All jobs are easy and will be well explained and it's a great way to meet people and do your bit for the community.

07.01.2022 Parkrun4one results for 4/4/2020 Congratulations to Louise, Stephen, Catherine, Shauna, Kerrie, Ed, Elisabeth, Adam (plus one), Melinda, Jamie, Dave and Tanyth on achieving a first place in your age division, a personal best and a first place overall in parkrun4one. A special thanks needs to go out to the volunteers, you know who you are, without you there would be no parkrun4one.... With next week being Easter, we are going to give you 48 hours to complete parkrun4one to include Sunday as it is only fair that Easter egg hunts should be included (as long as kids are involved).

07.01.2022 We may not be parkrunning at the moment but we still have the best volunteers... Thank you from all of us at coffs harbour parkrun.

07.01.2022 Kiwis are looking out for us!

06.01.2022 In case you were wondering what was happening with Coffs Parkrun...at least another month before we are up and going again. But we will be back and oh what a run/walk that one will be!

05.01.2022 Are you training for an event, a goal, or competition? Would you like to learn about training monitoring from an accredited Sports Scientist monitoring the training of professional athletes? This is the study for you! My name is Hannah McGuigan and I am conducting research as part of my PhD in sports psychology at SCU. The study is looking at how an education video on training monitoring (what it is, why it’s important, how to track data, and red flags to look out for) can af...fect adherence to a training monitoring program over a 10 week period. Benefits of participating in the study include learning how to monitor your training to reduce the risk of injury and illness and to improve your performance for when we finally get back to parkrun, having access to the monitoring application TrainingPeaks, and receiving a training monitoring education session from an accredited sports scientist working in professional AFL Further details of the study are below but If you have any questions or would like some more information please don’t hesitate to email me at [email protected].

05.01.2022 So lets try a bit of an Easter theme this weekend...and to make it easier, you have 48 hours to complete this weeks parkrun4one. And yes, an Easter egg hunt (for kids or adults) counts as exercise! The rules are simple - exercise for 31 minutes on Saturday or Sunday by yourself (or with your immediate family).... Preferably the exercise is within the confines of your property (just to make it a bit more challenging!). We need a photo or short video of you exercising - (please, by all means give us a bit of a laugh!). Why 31 minutes? - thats the average time that it takes for people to complete Coffs Parkrun, so if you do 31 minutes of exercise, we figure that you have done your parkrun for Saturday. Last week, we had 14 people complete parkrun4one, how many can we get this weekend? As a community we cannot do parkrun together but we CAN share our results; we CAN encourage others and we CAN still have plenty of fun as a community. We look forward to seeing how you have managed to get your parkrun in for the weekend...

04.01.2022 You can get it walking, you can get it running, you can get it planking, you can get it mowing, and these people got theirs last weekend! Congratulations to all who completed Parkrun4One last week. Another 13 PBs! Well done -Elisabeth, Jodie, Adam (plus 2), Daria, Bree, Judy, Kate (and Victa), Dave, Shauna, Tanyth, and Lauren.

04.01.2022 As it currently stands, we still have no date as to when Coffs Harbour Parkrun is likely to return. Rest assured that Parkrun Australia is continually updating and monitoring the situation and all possible scenarios regarding when and how parkrun will return are being canvassed. Whilst we wait for Parkrun to return, I encourage everyone to stay active (within the covid restrictions). Why not reach out to your friends and organise that walk/run as a social outing.... Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all soon.

04.01.2022 It is Friday and that means that tomorrow is Parkrunday. Well not quite yet, but you can still do your parkrun4one. This week, with a slight easing of restrictions, why not meet up with a friend and do your parkrun4one together.... Have a great weekend!!!

02.01.2022 Congratulations to all those who completed parkrun4one on Saturday. Records galore and plenty of 2 and 4 legged creatures getting active. Well done Melinda, Judy, Ed, Daria, Alina, Adam (and crew), Belinda, Miss Molly, Melanie, Janie, Heidi (and friend), Elisabeth, Tracy, Chels, Rosco, Amy, Ian, Jodie and Dave. More than 20 participants this week.... Have a great week and keep smiling!

02.01.2022 So the kids went back to school this week, so we thought that wed help with a bit of spelling while running/walking this weekend. This weekends parkrun4one challenge is to spell out P A R K R U N using street signs. eg. Park Ave could be your P, etc, etc. Take photos of your 7 street signs (and you cannot use the same R twice), and if youre are clever, you can post it as collage.... Good luck, watch out for traffic and have fun!

02.01.2022 One of our very own RD’s, Keelan was the first runner through yesterday morning, running the first leg for his relay team with a 4min/km average pace. We think we could probably match that effort (on a bike ). Well done Keelan!

01.01.2022 PARKRUN4ONE So let's try something new this weekend. We're asking you to do some form of exercise for 31 minutes on Saturday by yourself (or with your immediate family).... Preferably the exercise is within the confines of your property (just to make it a bit more challenging!). We need a photo or short video of you exercising - (please, by all means give us a bit of a laugh!). Why 31 minutes? - that's the average time that it takes for people to complete Coffs Parkrun, so if you do 31 minutes of exercise, we figure that you have done your parkrun for Saturday. The goal is to get as many people as possible to do a parkrun4one as possible. As a community we cannot do parkrun together but we CAN share our results; we CAN encourage others and we CAN still have plenty of fun as a community. Suggestions for your parkrun4one: - walk/run around the yard for 31 minutes! - set yourself a circuit of exercises - some squats, step ups, push ups, etc. - yoga for 31 minutes - walking up and down stairs - use your imagination! We look forward to seeing how you have managed to get your parkrun in for the weekend...
