25.01.2022 We're so excited for #Biketober! Stay tuned to our FB page and the Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery Instagram page for everything bicycles throughout October, courtesy of Coffs Collections! Cycling on the Pacific Highway near Moonee, 18 July 1945 (https://coffs.recollect.net.au/nodes/view/47660) This photo is from our Maston Collection. The Maston family owned farmland in Karangi. Anthony 'Tony' Maston (pictured here) eventually settled in Merrylands, Sydney, starting his own photography business from the back of his bicycle. His later collections are housed at the Cumberland City Council Library Service.

25.01.2022 The Coffs Harbour Regional Museum is pleased to announce our new exhibit a 1:25 scale model of the original Coffs Harbour Police Station and Courthouse our Museum building! This delicately made model has been a labour of love over the last 18 months by a local craftsman and heritage enthusiast, Don Langley. It comes complete with miniature people, furniture, lights, animals, and fine detailing that is bound to engage people of all ages who see it. You can find out more about it by reading our latest Coffs Coast Heritage Blog Post or by visiting the museum https://coffscoastheritage.info//the-original-coffs-harbo/

24.01.2022 More chances to learn more ways to earn. Groups of local young people came together over the last couple of weeks to share their ideas about the Youth Space being designed into the Cultural and Civic Space building. Members of the BVN Architecture team, including Principal Matthew Blair, spoke to them about the project, showed them some digital sketches of the space and asked for their feedback on furniture, technology and the kinds of things they would like to use the space for. Their enthusiasm for the project was inspiring, and their thoughtful feedback will help us to design a space that they will love and use. Thank you to everyone who took part, you were amazing!

02.01.2022 Our "Bananas to Beautizone" exhibition is currently on display - It used to be that summer was a time of hard, physical work for many residents of the Coffs Coast. Tropical fruit was a mainstay of the local economy and it ripened in the summer months. Growers, workers and carriers laboured in the heat to get crops picked, packed and transported by rail and road to capital city markets. In the 1950s however, tourism began to gain momentum and the region was instead promoted as... a destination for leisure and relaxation: the Pacific Beautizone. This catchy title was chosen as the winner from over 1400 entries in a 1956 competition to name the area from the Clarence to the Nambucca. The changes that took place in our summers in the post-World War Two period paved the way for the transformation of the Coffs Coast region, which continues today .
