24.01.2022 Full on southerlv blowing a gale and some rain but still better to get 35 minutes on the water than suffer through Andrea's boot camp. Up and down in the lee of the south wall, getting strong gusts when we turned, always great to be on the water.

23.01.2022 Calm seas paddling past Muttonbird Island with Port Macquarie friends on Saturday. Just gr8.

17.01.2022 Another gr8 morning on the water. Down to Boambee (and back)

16.01.2022 Saturday morning run - punched into the wind for 6 klm, so close to Split Solitary it was a shame not to go around it. Next time maybe. Faster 6klm ride back, average about 12 kph. Ama popping up a bit, gr8 fun as usual. Go team

15.01.2022 Paddling makes me happy. Easy to follow chart.

15.01.2022 Got in early on Sunday before the wind came up to clock 12 klm off Coffs. Straight out and back, quicker on the return, just the right amount of swell to be interesting. Showing Port visitors a few of our leaping dolphins, life is good.

12.01.2022 Hi All who like or follow our Outrigger Page- We have started a Facebook Group, Coffs Coast Outrigger Canoe Club. (the full stop shows it is the Group not the Page.) We should be able to share ideas and information from other clubs and friends and post discussions more easily. This page is linked to the group but to be able to better follow our community please join the Group. The url is www.facebook.com/groups/ccoutriggers/.... Membership is automatic after one simple question, the admins should be the same. I am still working this out so give it a go and let me know any problems. Post some of your favourite outrigger stuff - something for us all to do while we wait for the weather to settle

12.01.2022 Sharing the water with our friends from Port Macquarie, we had 4 full boats out on a perfect afternoon. 4 boats means a race and 12.5 klm of adventure around the islands, the final sprint to the jetty, all pretty well running on empty by the end. A gr8 afternoon, thanks to all.

11.01.2022 Coffs outrigger paddlers offshore enjoying a Wednesday paddle, spotted from a passing yacht.

09.01.2022 Another gr8 day in paradise. 14 klm up the coast and back, 3 boats out, some fun moments pushing between islands and the shore. And great boat flow on the way back, finishing with Pete's attempted sideways drift onto the beach and Andy's imitation of a sand anchor.

08.01.2022 Well worth 11 minutes of your time, some gr8 philosophy and stories here. Amazing lady and crazy family!

07.01.2022 How to launch in the mud

06.01.2022 A racing start and crowded around the shark bouy off Coffs with Port Macquarie visitors. Always good fun with a few boats on the water.

06.01.2022 AOCRA post- The saltwater stings your face skin to hard rain hitting the dry earth. Your breath rhythmic, calming the soul as you settle into a state of synchronicity. Surrendering to the elements that surround, with every stroke you persevere, digging deeper inside as every cell in your body screams for precious oxygen.... How fast you go is determined by the energy that flows, one crew, at one with each other, the elements and the deep vast blue. Riding the ocean swells, each blade exits and enters the water in sync, you search for a run, that converted sweet spot, where effort becomes effortless. That moment when you're at one with the sea and spirit. A sixth sense for moving oceans.

04.01.2022 On on our journey to becoming better paddlers and being more competitive, we have focussed recently on getting our language right for our stroke so we are all u...nited in terms of language, coaching phrases and consistency. There are many ways to describe a stroke but we needed one voice not a thousand experts with their own versions confusing especially newer and novice paddlers and constantly changing every time you get in a canoe. The first of two graphics highlight the 6 stroke phases which we encourage everyone in the club to learn, know by rote and be able to pass on to newer paddlers when they join the club or demonstrate to come and try paddlers. The second graphic highlights a Power stroke analysis done in 2008. It measured a number of paddlers to determine the stroke power curve averages shown. We have integrated our club Stroke language into it to show the power in each phase. In particular note that in general, an experienced male paddler applies almost twice the power of an experienced female paddler but that an experienced female paddler has a similar power peak to a novice male paddler. Also note the power curve remains the same for all but accentuates the second wave for experienced male and female paddlers and that the experienced paddlers also have a slight power increase at around the stroke exit. 02.01.2022 Steering masterclass with Gail and Tim sharing valuable tips. Like how good steerers never admit a mistake, blaming it on the current or the wind. Good to know.

02.01.2022 That was a gr8 session on Wednesday, thanx for those who went on OC1s to make the numbers work. A gr8 finish and very consistent steering from Gaz who followed the same line both directions. (I don't know why they all say bad things about your steering Gaz,)
