08.01.2022 The following was posted in a Apple group in Facebook by Leah Pederson from USA, Good reading to say the least. Account Recovery and how to avoid it: I work tech support for Apple, and a large # of calls are for people who are locked out of their AppleID, or didn’t get a verification code when setting up a new device. In some of these circumstances, we have to initiate account recovery, and it consists of a waiting period from 24 hours to a few weeks to regain access.. thi...s can be avoided. Here’s how: *remember your password, keep it in a secure location both online and offline. Forgotten passwords can often cause account recovery. *Keep your trusted # updated. Even better, add a second trusted # to get the verification code. A lot of account recovery requests are from people who change their phone # like others change their socks. *Have a second trusted device, signed into iCloud, running MacOS 10.10 or higher or iOS 10 or higher. These devices can receive or generate the verification code needed. Only having one trusted device, then possibly losing it or having it damaged is a huge reason for account recovery. My opinion.. if you spend $500 plus for an iPhone, it’s your responsibility to ensure you don’t get locked out of it.
