24.01.2022 Earlier this week I joined Member for Braddon Gavin Pearce, Central Coast Mayor Jan Bond and Deputy Premier of Tasmania Jeremy Rockliff for the Ulverstone Cultural Precinct sod-turning ceremony. The project will bring together art, history and science exhibition spaces and a visitor information centre. The $10.6 million project is jointly funded by Federal, State and Local Governments and is an exciting new development for Ulverstone. https://www.centralcoast.tas.gov.au/ulverstone-cultural-pr/

22.01.2022 The Governor-General has advised me that The Queen has approved the award of the Victoria Cross for Australia to Ordinary Seaman Edward ‘Teddy’ Sheean for his a...ctions on 1 December 1942, when he sacrificed his life to save his shipmates during the sinking of the HMAS Armidale. Teddy Sheean was an extraordinary Australian and Australia will remain eternally grateful for his service, dedication and sacrifice.

21.01.2022 The need to protect our most vulnerable Australians living in aged care is a top priority. It's why we activated the Victorian Aged Care Response Centre to combat the impact of COVID-19. In an Australian first, we have brought together more than 60 staff from 21 federal and state government and private sector agencies. The united effort of all involved has brought real stability to the Victorian aged care sector and helped deliver: 229 facility visits by ADF 160 facilit...y visits by AUSMAT 100 spot-checks by the Aged Care Commission 20,000 shifts filled by the Commonwealth surge workforce 88 interstate workers from QLD, SA and WA 956 phone calls to families Find out more here: https://www.health.gov.au//first-month-of-operations-for-t See more

18.01.2022 Today is a historic day in the fight against #COVID19. Aged care and disability care residents and staff across the country have begun receiving the first Pfizer jabs as part of the Federal Government’s comprehensive five stage vaccination program. It was an important opportunity to confirm the next positive steps to protect Australians during the pandemic and I look forward to seeing the imminent rollout of AstraZeneca doses in the coming weeks.

17.01.2022 Grants of up to $20,000 are available now to help small businesses reduce their energy costs. The grants support businesses to replace existing equipment such as motors, air conditioners and compressors, with more energy-efficient gear. The grants can also be used to cover the costs of energy audits and monitoring. To apply or find out more visit: https://www.energy.gov.au//energy-efficient-communities-pr

16.01.2022 It’s been another busy week in Federal Parliament. The Government is delivering on reforms for Senior Australians and working on effective vaccine strategies to protect Australians from #COVID19

15.01.2022 It was great to visit Devonport Christian School last week where students learned about the role of the Australian Institute of Sport and how anybody willing to train hard can reach their potential. The visit included a tour of the school's Alpha HQ STEM Centre - a unique space that encourages creativity and problem solving. And we topped it off with a discussion with Year 5 and 6 students on the roles and responsibilities as Minister for Youth and Sport.

14.01.2022 The latest investment in new home care packages is part of a broader plan to help Senior Australians live independently for longer.

11.01.2022 Yesterday I joined Governor of Tasmania Professor Kate Warner and Deputy Premier Jeremy Rockliff for the opening of the Glenview Community Services new Korongee residential aged care facility in Hobart. In the 2015 Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR), Glenview received an allocation of 50 residential aged care places and a $3 million grant towards construction of the new service. Korongee is now an Australian-first development and shining example of what can be achieved a purpose-built facility that supports people with dementia, by creating a home-like, community environment. https://www.themercury.com.au//6ba688b59ef425a41984e25eec0

11.01.2022 It’s us against the virus. We all need to be working together to get on top of this community outbreak in Victoria and protect senior Australians from COVID-19.

10.01.2022 Some big news in recent days including delivering 6,100 new ongoing home care packages and the impact of the latest COVID-19 lockdowns on senior Australians. I also extend my condolences to the family and many friends of Alex "Chumpy" Pullin, a true Australian champion and a flagbearer for this nation.

09.01.2022 It was great to join Prime Minister Scott Morrison (ScoMo), Member for Mackellar Jason Falinski and Senator Andrew Bragg at Collaroy Surf Lifesaving Club to announce the Australian Government will provide $9.7 million in additional funding to Surf Life Saving Australia. It means surf lifesaving clubs will now be able to access up to $10,000 per annum over the next two years to purchase new or replacement patrol equipment such as rescue boards, life jackets, rescue manikins, inflatable rescue boats, all-terrain vehicles, defibrillators, and first aid and medical supplies.

09.01.2022 Today's funding announcement of an additional $563.3 million to reinforce the aged care sector against COVID-19 demonstrates the work the Australian Government continues to do to protect the lives of senior Australians in care. The toll on families both here and across the world has been tremendous. Our thoughts are with those people who have lost loved ones. It is why, strengthening the aged care sector and protecting vulnerable residents and those who care for them remains a priority. Read more here: https://www.richardcolbeck.com.au/press-releases

08.01.2022 For generations, Australian men and women have served in campaigns across the globe. Some came home forever changed. Others never came home at all. Today we honour them and recognise those Australian heroes who today still fight for the freedom of others. Thank you. #LestWeForget

07.01.2022 Today, on International Day of Sign Languages, the Federal Government announced a sign language milestone for senior Australians. A $13 million injection will mean sign language services will be more accessible. It’s a big step for anybody over the aged of 65 who use Auslan in their everyday communication. Certified interpreters will provide Auslan, American Sign Language and International Sign Languages as part of the new service due to launch in November. Signed English... for deaf consumers and tactile signing and hand-over-hand for deafblind users will also be available. It means those in need will have access to interpreters for a range of daily activities from face-to-face appointments and online learning to community and family functions. The service, which will also include on-demand video remote interpreting, will be offered nationally, seven days a week and after business hours. For more information about this and other sign language services available to senior Australians visit the My Aged Care website or call 1800 200 422. The Morrison Government is delivering $325.7 million to immediately create more than 6,100 new, ongoing home care packages. This is about providing choice for senior Australians and giving them the opportunity to stay safe, be at home and age at home if that's their choice

01.01.2022 2020 has been challenging. Australian youth are dealing with disruptions to their education, sudden unemployment, mental health issues and economic insecurity. But we can all work toward a better future. Young people can now have their say on the issues that matter to them. The Australian Government is providing young Australians, particularly those aged 15 to 24, with an opportunity to give direct advice on the development of the National Youth Policy Framework and ultimate...ly, a meaningful contribution to the policies that affect them. The results of an online survey will help shape youth priorities, policies and programs. The month long consultation will help identify any gaps or barriers experienced by young people everyday around Australia. Discussions will inform the final draft of the framework due for completion by December. Have your say here: https://www.health.gov.au//the-national-youth-policy-frame See more
