23.01.2022 Road Safety Week is an opportunity to highlight the devastating impact motor vehicle collisions have on our loved ones and our first responders. CFA responded t...o a total of 4,350 motor vehicle collisions last year and during the warmer months we saw an increase on the monthly average. We know Victorians are making plans to get back on the road this weekend and over summer. We are asking you to make sure every journey you make is a safe one.

20.01.2022 RISK INCREASING: EXTINGUISH BURNS Tomorrow will see the first significant elevation of fire risk for the season in two districts of Victoria: a Total Fire B...an (TFB) and 'Severe' fire danger in the Mallee, and 'Very High' fire danger in the Wimmera. Locally in the Central district, the Fire Danger Rating (FDR) will be High - we will see warmer temperatures of up to 25C and winds of up to 50km/h. To prevent burn-offs spreading out of control, please ensure all burn piles are fully extinguished this evening as the winds will pick up early tomorrow from 8:00am. Find out more about FDRs and TFBs here: www.cfa.vic.gov.au/warnings-restrictio/bans-and-rating-faqs. Understand the levels of warnings and don’t expect warnings to be issued in any particular order. The first warning you may get could be an Emergency Warning. https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/warnings-restrict/about-warnings

12.01.2022 Today we mark one year since the start of the devastating bushfires which deeply affected Victorian communities across the state. On 21 November, 2019 the first... ‘code red’ fire danger rating in almost a decade was declared in the Mallee and Northern Country, and dry lightning strikes in East Gippsland that started three fires which grew to a widespread bushfire disaster that burned for months. Today we reflect on the devastation and challenges that followed 21 November and the incredible support from all emergency services who came together to aid the communities impacted by the unprecedented fire season. 06.01.2022 Our Australian Seasonal Bushfire Outlook: December 2020 February 2021 is out today, and shows that large parts of NSW west of the Great Dividing Range face ab...ove normal fire conditions, as well as grassland areas of the ACT and into north eastern Victoria. Grass and crop fires are the main concern in these locations for the summer months as the growth dries out in the warmer weather. WA has largely missed out on the rainfall in 2020 and conditions are very dry, with parts of the south and south west coasts expecting above normal fire conditions through summer. 05.01.2022 PLEASE BURN WITH CAUTION Unfortunately two burn-offs took off today in the Macedon Ranges - while one was luckily extinguished by the property owners in K...yneton before CFA crews arrived, the other in Malmsbury spread quickly and burnt out-of-control until the big red fire trucks rolled in. Don’t get caught out on warm, breezy days and let your bonfire become a bushfire - check the weather, register your burn, monitor conditions and have plenty of water on hand for extinguishment. And of course, if your burn-off does spread out-of-control and you’re unable to extinguish it quickly, call Triple Zero (000) for help from us immediately - we’d much rather tackle a small burn than a big fire. Register your burn www.cfa.vic.gov.au/contact/register-your-burn-off. Make sure you’re burning-off safely www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/burning-off.
