14.01.2022 Thinking about solar hot water as an investment If the outlay is repaid in 9 years by electricity savings, thats 11% return. If, instead, you invested that money youd be lucky to get 11% and your interest would be taxed. So, taking money out of your fixed term deposit and getting solar hot water would see you better off.... Are my ponderings right? Depreciation, inflation, rising power costs, maintenance???

13.01.2022 Abbott says he is looking into the RECs system. If this is slashed it will add about $1,000 to the cost of a solar hot water system. If youre thinking about getting solar hot water (or solar electricity) do it now!!

01.01.2022 Temperature, pressure relief valves A constantly dripping temperature/pressure relief (ptr) valve is unsafe. The hazard is that minerals in the water supply can accumulate inside the valve during the passage of hot water through the valve assembly. That accumulation of scale could eventually block operation of the relief valve, causing the relief valve to fail. The risk, ultimately, can be a hot water cylinder explosion. Fortunately, such explosions are rare. This cylinder in this photo exploded because it didnt have a temperature pressure relief valve!!
