The concept at the time was simple - let the light from the windows wrap around Janna and show off her beautiful lines. But now, 6 months later, and this shot symbolises the reality for a lot of people at the moment. The hotel curtains, the light, representing the outside (pre-pandemic) world. 06.01.2022 What makes a photo ‘technically’ perfect? My answer: I couldn’t care less. While I may have started this journey some time ago trying to follow all the rules of photography, it was pointed out to me that the most technically correct photo can easily be the most boring if the subject doesn’t engage. It’s no secret I prefer shooting people, and people I’m close to even more. It allows me to capture a realness, an emotion, a feeling and a true point in time. For this moment - we... had been driving for nearly nine hours from South East QLD to Newcastle, displaced by the bushfires.
