02.01.2022 Managing conflict. Even if, as a peace lover, we dislike conflict, we all have to deal with it in our lives. Whether it’s disagreements with friends and family, at work or in everyday situations. Learning how to manage a conflict, so there is a good result for everyone, is a real skill a set of skills actually. The College of Counselling Studies recently conducted a 1 day course in conflict management. Included on the day were topics on creative responses to conflict, the u...se of power, managing emotions in a conflict and a session on bioenergetics ie releasing the tension we hold in our bodies when stressed. The day concluded with a role-play session to discover what’s involved in Mediation. Those who attended commented that there was a good mix of theory and practice, with ideas and material that they could use straight away and a taste of lots of areas about conflict.
