25.01.2022 Kaya Families This term the Kindy children will be learning about the world around us. Each week we will be exploring different concepts such as cultural food, clothing, languages, buildings, and animal habitats around the world. Today we discussed the effects of land clearing which leads to habitat loss. The children were surprisingly knowledgeable about this subject realising the impact of losing trees in the environment. Master B added diggers to his sand area knocking down trees as he played. He told Shalini that the koalas feel so sad because they broke his tree to get wood. He decided to leave some trees for the koalas to live in. He is show growing appreciation and care for natural and constructed environments. Well done Kindy children you are awesome in your learning.

19.01.2022 Hello everyone, Kindy children and staff would like to say a big thank you to all the lovely families that helped us with our learning about our daycare community. We made a Kindy community tree as part of our learning and all our learning areas were set up based on all the feedback we received. As the Kindy term comes to an end, we would like to share some of the learning that occurred through out the term!

18.01.2022 Did you know that the Elves stayed out all night fishing? They were so tired this morning that they found it hard to climb the teepee so they did not reach the top today. Did you spot them? I wonder what mischief they will get up to tomorrow on our last day before Christmas. It's going to be big !!

15.01.2022 Kaya Families and Community Did you know that we are an official recycling centre for bread tags, small batteries, plastic lids, glass bottles, water bottles, cans and rubber thongs. A big thank you to the lady from College Grove who brought in plastic lids to our centre today, your donation is very much appreciated. We have a drop off point outside the office for anyone who would like to donate any of these items.

10.01.2022 Oh No! It's not a great start back to the year. Our phone lines seem to be suffering a bit of over-indulgence from the festive season. Until we are able to sort this out, please call us on our mobile 0406211955.

07.01.2022 Last week, we told you about our adventures to Cowaramup to discover what happens to the plastic lids you have been adding to our collection. Remember the tubs full of colourful plastic confetti? Our videos demonstrate the bright and cheerful products that the wonderful team at Precious Plastic Margaret River make from all that plastic. Plant pots, serving trays, dip bowls, even a surf board fin or two. If they can make a mold for it, they will create it. The confetti is pil...ed into the mold and placed into a regular household oven (repurposed of course :) ), then held in a vice while the warmed plastic shapes and hardens. Even all those off cuts you see in the video are re-shredded and reused. Nothing goes to waste. The range of colours used in these creations ensure they are as beautiful as the Cowara Bird that Cowaramup is named for. These creative pieces are then on sold at select locations around the region to assist in funding the full cycle. Now that is recycling at its best and we feel very proud to have you helping us to be a part of such an amazing concept. Of course, there is also an online shop always open. You can browse their range and place your orders via the link below. www.preciousplasticmargaretriver.com Tell us what you think!!!

05.01.2022 Look! It's a bird, It's a plane, No IT'S SUPER RELF and his sidekick ROCKET. Oh the mischief these guys got up to on the weekend. Though it must have taken a bit of wrangling to catch those birds and tame them in flight. Do they think they are Na'vi (Avatar) or something? Where will they be hiding today?

05.01.2022 Miss E and Master M came up with the idea to sell ice-cream so the toddies room opened up their ice cream shop. They asked everyone 'Who wants to buy an ice cream?' Providing the resources for this area has been a huge success in supporting their interests. The ice cream shop provides children with opportunities to identify with their world, practice role play, develop social, communication and emotional skills and extend imagination. In the next few weeks the toddies will explore all aspects of this experience by making their own ice creams. Yummm

04.01.2022 It seems it may have snowed in Bunbury last night.... (or a couple of ratbags got into the pantry :):):) ) Relf and his best mate Rocket have certainly kept us entertained over the past couple of weeks. I hope they don't do anything crazy silly like splash paint over the walls while we are on our Christmas Holidays!!! Do you think we can trust them? From all of the staff and management here at College Community Child Care Centre, we wish you all a safe and happy Christmas, filled with love and laughter. We look forward to catching up with you all when we return on Monday 4th January 2021.

02.01.2022 Did you spot the Elves today? They thought that they would help with the gardening but got tangled up in the planter. Oh my whenever they both try to help they just get themselves into trouble! I hope they can get out by tomorrow....

01.01.2022 The elves have gone fishing! Hope they catch a big one for their dinner. What have your elves at home been up to? Share your favourite Elf stories with us.

01.01.2022 WOW, we are blown away..... Jude and Cath took a day trip to Cowaramup this week to gain valuable learning and insight into our centre recycling initiative. Thanks to you - our awesome families and staff - we had collected a WHOLE tub of lids, but we were still curious (and a little unsure) about how our efforts really helped. We were in for such a surprise! The amazing crew at Precious Plastics Cowaramup gave us an impromptu tour of their factory, explaining every aspect o...f the process. Each lid is washed and dried then sorted by both colour and plastics number. Did you know that there is a little triangle symbol with a number inside on each lid (sometimes it is hidden really well). This number informs of the plastics composition and how it can be reused or recycled. We can save numbers 2, 4 and 5 but if you can't find that pesky little number, throw it in our collection anyway. The PPC crew are THAT good that they can look at a lid and just know....... The next step is to shred the cleaned lids. This was originally done with a home made shredder made from all repurposed parts, but there was quickly way too many lids to process so a big industrial shredded is now being used. There are boxes and boxes of colourful shredded confetti throughout the PPC shed. But what do they do with all of that shredded plastic????? How is this helping the environment???? Watch this space to find out more........... :) See more
