15.01.2022 Improvements to the Electrotechnology Training Package The review of the electrotechnology Training Package is now complete and has been signed off/approved at the national level. In a nutshell, this means that the training for electrotechnology workers, including electrical workers, instrumentation technicians and pre-apprentices, has been brought up to date with current industry practice and incorporates legislative changes and new and emerging technologies. ... These improvements are designed to ensure that electrical training in Australia delivers the skills and knowledge needed to future-proof the electrical trade and meet the requirements of constantly evolving technologies in the electrotechnology industry. How does this impact you and your business CET is developing an implementation plan to transition all impacted electrotechnology students, including electrical apprentices, to the new qualification versions gradually throughout 2021-2022. You may have heard that the State Government announced a $53 million package that will see some training fees slashed. 10.01.2022 Financial assistance to employers of mature age apprentices ECA WA welcomes today’s announcement by the Premier, Mark McGowan, that the Western Australian Government will be providing substantial financial assistance to employers in the Building and Construction Industry wishing to employ mature aged apprentices. Assisting mature aged people to enter the building and construction industry has been a long-term goal of ECA WA. We have lobbied the government and the Constructi...on Training Fund (CTF) on this issue for a number of years. Because of this lobbying, ECA WA in conjunction with the CTF, will be funding an additional 16 electrical apprentice places for mature aged indigenous and mature aged female electrical apprentices. ECA WA will also be launching its own self-funded program to subsidise the cost of hiring an additional 10 mature aged electrical apprentices through our group training organisation, Electrical Group Training (EGT). The indigenous and female places will be available from February while the ten mature age apprentice positions will be available from July. The Premier also announced (http://bit.ly/3iNVKSn) that if re-elected at March’s state election, his government would subsidise another 200 mature aged apprentices.
