20.01.2022 Junior School leaders promoting Pink Day on Friday 25 September. They are raising funds for CANTEEN.

19.01.2022 Some of our boarders teamed up with Hutchins boarders to make moon cakes for the mid-autumn festival today. Mooncakes, usually made of a rich paste filling surrounded by a thin crust, are traditionally eaten while sipping tea and gazing upon the roundest, brightest moon of the year after a mid-Autumn family dinner. In Chinese culture, roundness symbolises completeness and togetherness and a full moon symbolises prosperity and reunion for the whole family.

18.01.2022 A big shout out to Matilda, Zara and India for their idea, thought and planning for our Junior School Pink Fundraising Day today, where we raised much-needed funds for Canteen. We had lots of fun dressing up and raised $375.10. A big thank you to all families and staff for getting involved in this special day.

18.01.2022 Junior School started the day with some exercise at their Athletic Carnival. It was warm and sunny and the children were great sports at the many obstacle courses, balancing acts and running races with teddies! Wonderful to see the parents and carers who were able to come, thank you for your cheers and well wishes.

18.01.2022 It was lovely to share the afternoon with our Year 4 families as we buried the Year 4 Class of 2020's time capsules, which they will dig up and open on the last day of Year 12. Thank you all for coming and we look forward to hearing all about Middle School next year.

17.01.2022 Our Year 4 students absolutely love learning to crochet. This mindfulness activity gives them time and space to reflect whilst learning a new skill.

17.01.2022 Our delightful Junior School photographed by Jemima Phelps. There are a few places in Kinder for 2021, apply here: https://collegiate.tas.edu.au/enrolment-process/

17.01.2022 Work experience students Michela Mampieri and Lucy Stubbs were fortunate to have an experience at The Menzies Centre. They were met with an enormous amount of red tape and paperwork just to enter the centre as well as necessary COVID protocols. It showed the level of impact this pandemic has had on entering the workforce. With a little patience, they were rewarded with a day that incorporated exciting activities. They meet PHD students and had discussions with them around th...eir research and day-to-day work then had a tour of the facilities including the teaching and lab areas. After a morning tea break, they entered into the Wet Labs and were able to complete staining slides. The students enjoyed a lunch break in the surrounds of the Menzies Centre, then returned to the Lab to do dry lab practical activities. What a wonderful opportunity! A huge thank you to their mentor and PHD student Allanna Russell and the UTAS Future Students team for their support in making this happen.

15.01.2022 Our Year 3 students are enjoying 'old fashioned Friday' as part of our Collegiate History unit. The girls are wearing old fashioned hair styles and historical uniforms for the day. We have been following old fashioned school rules, playing traditional games and using old fashioned learning and writing tools such as inkwells and nibs to complete our school work.

14.01.2022 Part 2: Years 11 and 12 Design in Production Exhibition. Some photos are details of the work, others are the whole work.

12.01.2022 Year 9 and 10 took out the Champion School trophy in the Science and Engineering Challenge today! Congratulations, what a great effort!

11.01.2022 Collegiate has gratefully received a Sustainable Schools Award of $500! Lesley Gardner, Program Coordinator for Keep Australia Beautiful Tasmania visited our assembly to present Claire Bent, Year 9 Mentor with a cheque. Their feedback was: "What we loved about your project and made it a stand out, was the commitment to not only continue a focus on food production through to the senior school years but provide rich learning experiences by visiting local farms and exploring the ethics and impacts of modern farming practices." We are looking forward to putting the $500 to good use.

10.01.2022 Huge congratulations to our Collegiate Senior College 2 team! They were victorious over Elizabeth College in the Grand Final held by the Tasmanian Debating Union on Wednesday night. Asha and Georgia (Oracy Captain) of Year 12, and Jasmine and Gypsy of Year 11, are a formidable team and their nurturing and support of our younger teams - in such an unpredictable year - has been endearing and humbling. Students like these make our school unique. The girls do embody our school values absolutely. Gypsy and Jasmine will continue to steer debating at Collegiate next year. #collegiate #debating

07.01.2022 A little video of our week so far with the girls from St Michael’s Collegiate School! From snorkelling ship wrecks and dive training in the pool to singing along with Pitch Perfect we’ve done it all! Looking forward to today’s adventure for our first dives in the ocean

07.01.2022 Year 1 loved sharing their hard work with fellow students, staff and their families as part of the Habitat Walk last week. This ‘walk’ was the culminating experience for the term’s Science, Literacy, Art and HASS combined units of work. We are so proud of their efforts and hope our families enjoyed seeing what they have been learning.

06.01.2022 Year 4 have been having lots of fun learning all about early sea explorers during Term 3. After researching their chosen explorer, and creating a mini website to display their findings, they showcased their work at our annual Explorer Expo. We congratulate them on their wonderful research as well as great artwork, props and costumes which really made the Explorer Expo come to life.

06.01.2022 An amazing first day with the girls from St Michael’s Collegiate School on our second Scuba Camp! Today we got to go snorkelling around Fortescue Bay and had an absolute blast! Can’t wait for our pool session tomorrow!

05.01.2022 Year 9 have been looking at the pH of common household solutions as part of their Chemical Reactions Unit. They were challenged to create the spread of pH colours, through understanding how changing the concentration of an acid or a base, alters the pH scale. Their ultimate challenge was to create the full spectrum within a single test tube. Do you think they've succeeded?

04.01.2022 The Kindergarten Nativity Play started at Junior School and proceeded up the road for a service at All Saints Church today. The donkey came to the service, too! Thank you Kindergarten... now it's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.

03.01.2022 On Saturday, 38 Year 12 girls and teachers wearing bandanas donated by CanTeen completed the ‘School to Summit’, walking from the Senior School campus in Hobart, to the summit of kunanyi/Mount Wellington. Clementine Harris said The walk was undoubtedly challenging, yet the camaraderie shown by our wonderful cohort was remarkable. As we neared the top, the cloud cover shielded the view, but the optimism, happiness and determination shown were unfaltering. It was 15km in tota...l, and consisted of 1300m elevation gain; an incredible accomplishment by the participants, and a testament to their resilience and perseverance. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all with wonderful company and many laughs! We would like to extend a big thank you to the teachers who attended the walk, and to those who were a part of our welcoming committee on the summit (despite trying weather conditions!). Also, thank-you to all the people who have donated already, we are very grateful that you believed in us and our initiative. The link to donate remains open until the end of October. Any further contributions would be greatly appreciated as CanTeen Tasmania is a wonderful and well-deserving cause. The link is https://www.raiseit.org.au/fundr/clementineharris/raiise-it

03.01.2022 Year 2 students had a great week learning about various forms of transport. Highlights were waving to Minnie’s Mum out on the water, climbing into Bettina’s Mum truck and seeing the Westpac Rescue Helicopter land on the roof the hospital.
