25.01.2022 Congratulations to Harry Winfield of Collie-Preston Bushfire Brigade, who last night, was the recipient of the Chiefs Award for the 2019-2020 Fire Season. During the Yourdamung Fire in December 2019, Harry was new to Volunteering as a Bushfire Brigade Member. He had only managed to complete Water Bomber Reloader Training and given that was all he was trained in, spent the entire fire campaign at the Collie Airfield, keeping the significant aerial fleet rotating through with... their pay loads to help front line fire fighters. The award this year, as always, is hard to determine who it should go to, given so many, do so much. However this year, the Shire of Collie Bushfire Chief, Julian Martin, said: "The award this year sends a strong message that Harry's ability to assist at the time was limited, yet he did everything he could to help out with dedication in his role and it recognises the immense appreciation for all members in our various brigades that only perform support roles. Our Support Members are of equal importance as our frontline fire fighters. Harry is a young fire fighter with a bright future and was brave enough recently to ask our State Premier, Mark McGowan for a photo together." Congratulations Harry.

16.01.2022 This is the reason a total fire ban has been declared. While rain is forecast, so are sustained, gale force winds before any rain arrives, making it too hazardous to allow fires. https://www.facebook.com/329710559071/posts/10157605129949072/

08.01.2022 Today at McHappy our CESM Tristan was dunked in the water drop machine. Collie Preston made a bet with Tristan that if we rasied $250 he would get dunked or $500 to do it in his uniform. With the help of the other bridge we managed to raise around $600. We would like to thank everyone who donated to make this happen. Collie Preston bushfire brigade

02.01.2022 Please be advised that low humidity, coupled with sustained, strong winds commencing in the early hours of Saturday morning and increasing in strength into Sunday before rain hopefully arrives, means it is unsafe to allow any fire during the dry and windy period beforehand. In an effort to minimize the risk of any fires escaping, all permits are suspended until Monday May 25th. All existing fire permit holders are directed to have all fires, fully extinguished prior to 6pm t...omorrow night (Friday, May 22nd). If you have any questions or concerns, or you are unable to comply with this directive, please contact the person who issued your permit. Permits are still required for bon fires, property clean up and to burn paddocks or private bushland in the Shire of Collie until May 31st.
