23.01.2022 Main Roads construction works at Gibbs Siding, 5 km west of Darkan, will commence in January 2016. Use of the trail will be assessed fortnightly, once constrution commences, with any temporary closures posted on this page.

21.01.2022 The Friends of Collie Darkan Rail Trail would like to let you know our next "Spring on the Trail" will be held on Sunday 18th September 2016. It will be held in Darkan and go to Gibbs siding and back. More info as it gets closer.

17.01.2022 The Friends of Collie Darkan Railtrail Group have decided not to hold Spring on the Trail this year.

17.01.2022 The trail is currently closed near Gibbs Siding 5km west of Darkan for road construction works. Main Roads expect the trail to be closed intermittently over the next few months. A bag will be placed over the closed sign when the trail is safe to use.

15.01.2022 Rail trail users are welcome to use the camp kitchen and toilets at the Darkan Caravan Park. Perfect place to stop for a cuppa or break during your walk or ride.

11.01.2022 Rail Trail D A R K A N to C O L L I E Multipurpose Trail ... I had the pleasure of shuttling these lovely ladies to Hillman (about 6km out of Darkan) the start of their 52 km journey back to Buckingham (west of Collie) 5 ladies, 5 bikes, 2 cars.......I met the group at the Banksia Motel we loaded up the bikes, headed on our way to park the cars at Buckingham and traveled to Hillman for the group to start the ride - no need to drive back to Hillman to collect the cars - car shuffle solved! The 46.5km Collie to Darkan Rail Trail passes through bush and picturesque farmlands. In springtime the area is carpeted in wildflowers. The multi-use trail is a pleasant journey suitable for walkers, horse and bike riders. A little stop at the very cute Bowelling station, built in 1919. The ride takes on average between 5-7 hours just depending on your speed..... Looking forward to sharing the next adventure of these lovely ladies in the future! The Narrogin to Darkan line opened in September 1906 and the extension to Collie in 1907. The rail line was used to cart timber, farm produce and general freight. The line continued to operate until 1988. 10.01.2022 MAIN ROADS GIBBS SIDING UPDATE Works on the roadworks at Gibbs Siding will cease on 18 May 2016 and recommence in September or October, weather permitting. The rail trail will be reopened for this period.

04.01.2022 Friends of Collie Darkan Rail Trail social catch up and AGM this Sunday 28 February 2016, 12.30pm at Bowelling Station. Unfortunately Main Roads are unable to attend, however we will still review the plans for the road realignment. BYO lunch. All trail users and interested community members are welcome to attend.

03.01.2022 Main Roads are commencing works near Bowelling. Coalfields Road and the trail will be realigned. A section of the trail will be closed for short periods during the works. The first closure will be for a period of two weeks commencing 5 November 2018. Please contact the Shire of West Arthur office on 97362222 if further information is required.
